Latest shipping info as of 6/27/2008:
USA - All issues should have arrived by now. If not, please let us know ASAP
CANADA - We have word of 1 issue arriving so far
EUROPE - A few issues have begun to arrive in the UK, France, Norway and Finland. Hopefully this means that the rest of our European subscribers will receive their issues soon
AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND - We have word of 1 issue arriving so far in Australia
ASIA - We have word of 1 issue arriving so far in Singapore
As always, if you are still waiting on the first issue, we're offering a downloadable PDF version so that you can at least read the content while you wait. We hope that this is a suitable substitute for the time being, and we apologize for the delay. Please email "dan@japanesenostalgiccar.com" with the subject heading "JNC PDF" along with your name and address in order to obtain the download instructions.
If your copy of Japanese Nostalgic Car has not arrived yet, please check the following first:
1. Your subscription date. If you paid before 4/10/2008, your subscription will start with the Spring 2008 issue. If you paid on 4/10/2008 or after, your subscription will start with the Summer 2008 issue.
2. Your address. Please check your payment receipt to see if you entered in your address correctly. Or, you can email me at "dan@japanesenostalgiccar.com" to confirm your address.
If you are scheduled to receive the first issue but have not received it, we apologize sincerely. Spring 2008 was our very first issue, and we have taken steps to ensure that this will not happen for the next issue, or any in the future. More details are available below for those of you that don't mind reading a long explanation. Rest assured though, if you are scheduled to receive the first issue, it IS on its way, just stuck in the postal system somewhere.

There has been an ongoing discussion about this, so I decided to create a new thread specifically devoted to it. The following is my response from a different thread:
Ok, so the printer got back to me. Let me just say that they have been somewhat less than forthcoming with information unless I ask explicitly, multiple times.
Without getting into the details, I'll just say that there's no real accurate way to determine when the magazines will be delivered. It has already surpassed the printer's quoted maximum delivery time for domestic shipments, but from what I understand, the further away from the printer (Denver), the longer it takes. I've heard of people in Massachusetts and Maryland receiving their copies, so I would hope everyone else in the country would have gotten theirs by now. If not, please give it...I'd say...one more week and then by all means, let me know if you have still not received it.
As for international orders, they will be going over land (and sea) to get to their destinations. Unfortunately, this means that it will probably take a LONG time for them to arrive. Based on my personal experience with shipping packages by boat, this may take up to 5 weeks, but honestly, I don't know what to expect.
Believe me, this whole process has been VERY stressful and I'm probably just as frustrated, if not more, than those of you still waiting for your first issues to arrive. All I can say is that we're extremely sorry for the long wait. This is our very first time publishing a magazine, and we decided to go with the least expensive shipping method in order to reduce costs to our readers. Unfortunately, and we take full responsibility for this, we had no idea shipping would take this long (You might see a poll coming up soon about whether or not you'd be willing to pay higher prices for more timely delivery).
If you absolutely cannot wait, email or PM me and put JNC PDF in the subject line. We will provide a digital copy to paid subscribers.
Again, sorry about all this, and please bear with us for the time being. Hopefully we can figure out a way to make more timely deliveries for the next issue.
~Dan

Hi Dan, mate all good!! I know I speak on behalf of my fellow Aussies, chin up, they'll all get here. I know sea mail does take a while(usually up to 8 weeks from the US). I'd be more than happy to pay for normal air mail, something that size wouldn't be all that much more.
Being heavily involved in the Japanese restorer mag over here while it was running, I can certainly understand your stress! Hat's off to all the guys involved I say. Plus my R100 project has been on the go for 10 years, so you've all got a while, time wise to catch up for a longer delivery time! As of today, we still don't know of anyone in Canada that has received his/her copy yet. Again, sorry about the delay. We're already looking into ways to avoid this for next time.

Hi, i received your subscription today. Your subscription will start with the next (Summer 2008) issue, so you should expect it to arrive in about 3 months. If you want the current (Spring 2008) issue, it can be ordered separately here:

I am in BC (canada) and subscribed the day it was announced, and still have not received the magazine.
Canada seams to be not as close to the US as we think. It takes a dog sled from the border to deliver, since we are all in igloos up here. Sad.

I'm still waiting patiently in Ireland for mine.
Any idea when I should expect it, can't recall when I ordered it, but possibly a month ago now. _________________ Datsun S30 Club of Australia |

Sorry guys, and to all our Canadian subscribers. I know that you're technically right across the border, but I think there might be an issue with sending bulk rate mail over the border. I'll try to get a more accurate estimate on delivery time from the printer on Monday and get back to you.

For our international subscribers, the magazines are being shipped by boat. This was a decision made by our printer since they knew price was a factor for us. However, had we known, we would have chosen a different method to ship. I can only ask for your continued patience. The magazines are definitely in the mail, it's just taking a long time for them to reach their destinations.

Hey Dave,
I think at this point, most of our domestic subscribers have received their copies, but your order was handled as a special case since you got three subscriptions. I just checked with a couple others that ordered multiple subscriptions, and none of them have received their copies yet, which leads me to believe that perhaps the printer forgot to handle these special cases, maybe. I don't know for sure, but I'll check in with them on Monday (their shipping offices are close on the weekend) and get back to you.
To everyone,
Sorry about the delay, and thanks for your patience. |
