heyya guys.
there doesnt seem to be much on JNC about the last of the FR Celicas, the A60 range. I have a big soft spot for these cars as my first car was a RA65 '85 Celica XT.
I just missed out on getting a very rare JDM Celica XX for my 2nd car, a real pity. it was a 1G-GEU powered 2L streight6 twincam.
I am trying to find any of these in australia.

heres some XX's at odaiba in Tokyo:

the XX has the Supra nose but without the flared guards, and of course is offered with different engines.

i'd love to get more info on these, particularly any in australia.

I've always wanted a nice one, but all the cars I've ever seen for sale have been in awful condition.

They're a lot of fun.

Wouldn't that basically be the same thing as an L-type Supra?

There's an RA65 coupe for sale near me. One day it will be mine. 8)

And when it's done, it will look exactly like this one.

it was pretty slow, but a great car to learn on. FR layout and lots of torque was fun.

always wanted to make it look more like this:

i beleive some of the jdm carinas and coronas shared many components with the celica (and some components from the corolla range i think).
these seem to be ultra rare in australia. could be an interesting alternative to the AE86 crowd..

I reckon Szymonsta would have had all the hot chicks! My first car was a datsun 1200 4 door :D Great car, but no chick magnet, in the days when they all drove around in new Sigmas their parents had bought them.

I do love me a good xA6x, though I'd have to say that I prefer the Celica Supra shape in liftback, and the Celicas in coupe form. I may be a bit biased though, having a coupe :P

it's not quite as clean up close and there's rust coming through in places i'd rather them not, but considering it's age and the fact that it's in one of the wettest areas in australia, it's held up pretty good. i think last time i checked it had about 220,000kms on the dial.

coilovers in front, cut springs in back and vented discs off an MX73 are about all i've done on it so far. engine is a bit tired and probably due for a rebuild sooner or later. still makes me smile every time though :)
