Hello everybody. Newbie here..

I am now buying myself a 76 120y sold new here in norway.
Always wanted a oldschool datsun with RWD

But I need a little pointing in the right direction concerning the suspension. I will probably just throw out the front, and put in a mcpherson-style coilover setup from something newer. But I donno the best way to go around in the back. datsun parts are realy hard to find here...

any ideas?

....I have been thinking of putting a complete nissan s13 subframe with diff and everything in it. Does anyone know if it have been done before? And is it room enough under there?

It's been done in a 510 station wagon, which is very similar underneath. If you have the guts, it's possible.



You will have to narrow the S13 suspension crossmember at least 180-200mm to fit it without flares. Obviously, the axles have to be narrowed the same amount, but if you can measure and weld it's definitely possible.

I was looking threw all my old parts bits and pieces from some earlier s13 projects, and found the perfekt wheels for my new baby. Some really old 4x114,3 16x8 +0 alloys. I hope it will be possible to fit them without to much modifications to the arches, but time will show. I`ll get some pictures posted as soon as i get some time

The tires is 225x55x16, and much to big! I think it should be possible to get some 195x45x16 tires on it, but need to get of the old ones and meassure some more, and find out how thick spacers i need. but happy with the look so far!

I was wrong. The rims where 7,5x16 30-offset. Got 2mm of clearance to the springs in the rear.

...and not much more in on the outside...

But in the front it crashed with the dampers, so will probably go for 30mm bolted spacers both in the front and back, and roll the arches to the max.
