thanks again for the great pics, I do love to see them in their natural habitat in their native country.

Wow a early prince miler and an early 60's Isuzu TXD50 truck! The Isuzu Trucks were two single headlights until early 1963 so it would be prior to that. The styling didn't change much in ten years prior to that. 6 cyl straight diesel or petrol "D" was diesel and "G" was the petrol engine. "T" meant it was a bonnet truck not cab over like the pic and "X" was prime mover. Would need to measure the Chassis and curb weight as the last numbers were it's load/GVM - gross vehicle mass. This old girl would have had three gearsticks to operate it! Geez I need to get out more!! I'm in overload!!

I too have a friend with a very similar odd pairings like that - he has many TS16 Renault station wagons everywhere as well as four Toyota KE Corolla's.

My grandfather (who passed away last year) was a great afficionado of Bongos, before he died he was onto about his 3rd roadgoing one, and had up to 4 in his yard for parts at one stage.

Terribly rust prone things, even his good one was more bog than steel. So weird to drive sitting in front of the wheels, feels incredibly odd going around tight corners and roundabouts.

If any of you commercial vehicle fans spot a C240 or early model C340 Nissan Caball that's being wrecked, please have a look for the hydraulic clutch reservoir. I'll try to attach a pic somehow... :?

I'm very keen to track one down but haven't had any luck so far.

Thanks,

Jeff

This Showa 54 is listed on Goo now:

Found this Showa 12 kitten along the way:

Put one on the back of the other, and drive them both home. No idea about the configuration, but a clutch reservoir would seem an ideal candidate for a kludge? Neko.

Driving them home to Australia could be a challenge.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what's a "kludge"?

Jeff

That Stout recovery vehicle is very cool Kuroneko, its the same Showa 43 as mine RK, but in much better condition

A kludge in this case would be taking a reservoir from another car / truck and modifying it to fit in some less-than-official way to solve your problem.

I guess it would give you a good excuse to use the recovery lane when the expressway gets clogged...

I suppose these count as 'commercial' too? Cannot find a Superbird? Make one! Grab a Sunny, matte the hood, add some period wheels, an appropriate rear wing / load carrier, some graphics, and you've got a damn good Superbird replica.

The second one is just too shiny for me. Funny how I saw these both within a few days of each other. One near my house in the suburbs, and another tooling around the financial district. Neko.

That's great to see a JDM utility with ladder racks on it Neko! Would look at home on any Australian building site looking like that!

It's always funny that, you don't see something for a while, then multiples of he same vehicle then pop up!

It was a commercial tv ad. I tried to find the right thread to post it in... haha... but I may have failed.

Ha... I juuust googled it, the commercial is on youtube, and I guess the girl/commercial IS real, but events were portrayed differently:
http://www.thebigmoney.com/blogs/retwee ... -isnt-real

Oooo... more research, I stalked her myspace:

Haha, that's awesome. You'd think Nabisco could afford a newer van, but I guess they want to roll in style!

Regarding Ben's comment on the yellow Mitsi van. That shape of L300 might have been around since the mid-'80s but is still available new - at least it is here in NZ.
