wow mitsu did some cool stuff in the old days 8)
why don't you just source a narrow block jap 5spd?
should be able to mix and match mounts as well ...

cause narrowblock is cable clutch while my wideblock box (same as Starion box) is hydraulic clutch and the box is stronger than a narrowblock box.

I am wishing to put a fresh engine into it anyway so its no trouble just swapping the DASH gear in place.

Some progress on the GT

So I was getting pretty sick of the pathetic performance of the carburettor which was just slapped on the original Turbo block

Image

So off came the carb gear

Image

leaving this mess

Image

Image

looks like the mechanical fuel pump had been leaking oil for some time

Image

after a little degreasing it looks like the starter motor had been replaced recently

Image

I also removed the air con pump and condenser to make way for the intercooler and shed a litttle weight as the air con didn't work to begin with

Image

turbo gear bolted on

Image

Image

and intercooler and piping just thrown on quickly

Image

Image

Image

at this point I went to go start it, but I wasn't getting any fuel, because one of the idiot mechanics to removed all the ECI turbo gear and fitted the carb pulled the wires off the pump and cut the end off the banjo bolt fitting to slip a low pressure rubber fuel hose onto

Image

so I bought a Walbro external fuel pump

Image

and then got it running! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlh0y3Z1yMA

thanks guys, here's a bit of progress

I had swapped over the coilover suspension/rear subframe including LSD and rims/semi slick tyres from the Eterna to do a trackday

So the trackday had been and gone about six weeks ago, here was the motor as it was:

Image

Now, half way into the track day the engine started to sound a bit un-healthy and it decided it wanted to spit the dip stick out of the tube due to extra blow-by - the more I ran it over the rest of the afternoon the worse the engine sounded so I decided to pull the engine out

Image

and stripped it down, to which I was greeted by this

Image

Image

I did a compression test prior to pulling it out.. 160, 155, 30, 120

also found the balance shaft belt had snapped and looked it had been for some time, not that I noticed any difference in the smoothness of the engine

Image

engine block ready to send to the engine builders..

Image

early 90s period HKS 0.50mm oversized forged pistons, and the rods are fitted with arp studs already

Hey that piston looked like my rebuilt challengers piston but only one ringland was missing. That car is looking proper man.Gave me motivation to put a engine back in mine and drive it.

yeah the V6 build is pretty much on the back burner haha, I think I bit off a bit more than I can chew at the time. I have put the white GT up for sale so hopefully it will be sold in a few months once it's back up and running with the DASH power, and then the funds from the sale will inject some cash and motivation into the Eterna build.
