All,

Here is my 1973 Mazda Rx2 that is being returned from the dead for it's second chance at life. These pictures are from it's trailer trip headed to receive it's new power plant, power-train and brake update. Please advise me of some solid suppliers that might be able to deliver on the following:

Need:
Original (If possible) interior carpeting- Front and Back!
As close to stock, chromed side view mirrors, drivers as well as passenger sides.

Thanks and enjoy, as I truly love these cars!

Awesome car mate, colour and wheels look great. JDMRX2 will blow his load when he sees this one. RX2 coupes are one of the best shape cars ever made just behind R100s

A great car indeed. Do you have any photos of local RX2s? Any availiability of parts over there?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I just found this site a couple of weeks ago, and was really struggling to get a couple of pictures posted. Obviously I got that figured out now and I am so pleasantly surprised that there is a true-to-heart, extended family of Rx2 lovers out there. I have had this car since 1984, and in 2002 I grenaded the motor after many years of wonderful service from it. It has sat garaged for the past 8 years until I finally found the right guy to do the work I was looking to do. I am expecting to get the car back in a week, and once I stop crying the happy tears to have it back, I will get more pictures taken and shoot them out to you guys. Regarding that comment about the R100, I truly understand, as that is my first true rotary love, and would love to bring one of them back to life. I have located one just across town in relatively good shape, but the owners parents are in posession of the car while their son is away with the military. I have tried, but they won't budge at releasing the car.

Regarding the things I am still looking for in order to get the car road worthy again, I have thought of a couple more items:

Trunk seal, driver and passenger door seals, as well as window seals or seal kit, since it has sat dormant for the eight years.
Original or aftermarket headliner, as the corners around the rear window are starting to sag.

Thank you all for the help and encouragement to get this puppy rolling again. I can't wait!!!!

Sweet Car :tu: is that a respray or is it factory paint? if the headliner has no tears I'd leave it if I were you, but if you really want to change it I think I've seen it on ebay.com.au, its a reproduction so i don't know how good the quality is. the weather stripping can also be found on ebay.com.au

Good luck with the car, I can't wait to see more :D

Factory paint with a few dings and blemished, but I am happy how it has held for 37 years.

Thanks for the E-Bay information!

Thanks,

Great car. The other comments are not relevant. I thought the car was located in South Africa as I was looking at the post above (Mr N4sa).

Stunning looking RX-2! Love the black striping thing :tu:

Does it have a vinyl roof?

Early on it did have a black vinyl roof, but due to natural weathering over the years, it began shrinking, then became very brittle. I removed it at that point. What are your guys thoughts about leaving the chrome trim like I did. I was never sure if it looked right or not, but I really want to keep alot of chrome accents, just not sure if this adds to the look, or subtracts.

This is the same reason I am looking for original, or close-to original, driver and passenger side chrome mirrors.

The black "Rotary" decal was a dealer option when originally sold I believe, and it has held up pretty well. Would like to secure a new one, or have one reproduced, in order to keep the "fresh look" going.

Thanks!

Hi.

For what its worth, I'll suggest that you remove the strip for the vinyl roof. I believe by removing it, it will bring out the shape of the coupe better.

Regards
