Wait, I am confused - did Daihatsu sell the ZM-engined S38 in Indonesia up until 1978? In the domestic Japanese market, it was replaced by the 550cc AB-engined S40 in July 1976. They looked the same, but with a bigger four-stroke.
Did Daihatsu use the Indonesian market to use up old two-strokes they had lying around? I would love to know more, would it be possible to get a scan or photo of the handbook with engine specs and possibly a date as well?
Thanks
Daihatsu sold the two-stroke engined S38 till the early 80s in Japan in parallel to the S40 with the four stroke 550cc engine.
I assume the two stroke engined Hijet was a bit cheaper.
Cheers,
Daniel
