Wow, looks like its in great shape!

They are uncommon I'd have to say, not so much rare. Quite a few late 70's Subarus were built and sold in the US.

Yours is extremely nice though. Got any more photos?

First of all, welcome to JNC.

Secondly, I love your car! As said above, it looks to be in great shape. They were probably not rare before, but they are now, especially in that condition.

I'd like to see more photos as well, especially of the interior. :tu:

I would say that in the NW the 70's subarus are uncommon and the coupes are indeed rare. I would imagine that they are even more rare in the rest of the country except maybe california. Your best bet for parts is probably second hand off of the ultimate subaru forum.

Very nice car and welcome to the forum!

Looks to be a very nice coupe! I am in the process of restoring a 73' model and it is quite the task finding most non mechanical parts for these. Seems most of these have died a slow, rusty death. Keep her in good shape.

Wagons and Brats are by far the most common of the 70's scoobs. And I think I've actcually seen less Sedans than Coupes/Hardtops over the years, both in RL and online.

I bought it rite before i joined the marines in 2003, it sat in my grandparents garage for the last 6 years and has done a good job of collecting all the eastern oregon dust. i started cleaning the inside today i pulled the carpet and center console aswell as part of the dash (i can get a little OCD sometimes)i'll be pulling the seats next week and double checking for rust but as of yet i have found very very little.

first time out of the garage in 6 1/2 years

Wow, looks in rather good shape. Looks like a model with quite a bit of extra equipment too.

77 must be the last year of that front end, cause it looks like the earlier 70's front grill/headlight setup.

Is it a 4 or 5-speed?

What you have is a Hardtop model, which either came in the 5-speed or the Automatic with the 1600 motor.

Its a top-spec model IIRC, at last in the US.

yes a 5 speed. i'm not sure what the options were for the car but i was impressed with what it had, more than what i was expecting for a late seventys eco car. i like the swiveling dome light the most but i'd imagine that would be standard equiptment. the only thing i have changed on the car would be the front fog lights and the radio speaker. the old tail pipe end fell off, the one with the screen around it. can you still get one like that? i think i know where it is so i might just weld it back on.

No, old exhaust pieces have gone the way of the dinosaur. I'd recommend doing whatever you want with the exhaust.

Is your VIN between A26L-808001 and 909000?

Thanks for posting pics of the interior. I love the plaid! You've got a real gem on your hands!

Whats the build date on it? 807+ doesn't show in the '77 FSM as a hardtop. Shows it as a 2dr sedan auto which it isn't obviously.
