Impulse buy-

An impromptu search led to an impulse buy sight unseen and a 900km road trip to bring it home.......... radio doesn't work too well- that's what triple webers are for.... bad storm about 15km from home introduced me to how bad it leaks... meh - I'll wear gumboots......

Have a boot full of spares, parts and service manual, owners (glovebox) manual etc...... I am one VERY happy camper

To answer a few queries on your behalf

Camshaft; It's an S54B, so yes "S5x-series"
hellaflushhako; Yeah they were, the Skyline lost lugs as it got newer :lol:

, the 1st Gen. was 6,
2nd Gen. was 5,
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Gen. were 4.

8th and up were mixed 4 and 5.

Congrats on that purchase. Very, very keen to see more pictures and shots of the spares.

Wow! The early Skylines are some of my all time favorites. Coolest impulse buy ever. :tu:

Reminds me when my dad and I drove about 900 miles to Washington state to buy a '71 510 -one of the first 510s I've ever seen in person- and bought it on the spot. Keep us posted! :mrgreen:

Its definitely a Prince G7 OHC engine.

To follow on from Kytelers explanation, the S50 was the 4cylinder 1500cc, S54 the 6cylinder 2000cc. Collectively known as the S5 series.

Mr C, he had it for sale for a while then took it off. Then put it back on again.

It's a GTB series II. Straight 6, triple webers. But, Mr C you are correct- to look at it, it appears to be the G7 engine......... but it's not. it's actually the G11 engine, which as you can see, looks exactly the same. it's 2.5l - only the bore is different size. The G11 was only factory fitted to Gloria sedans, and only 18 odd found their way here. So pretty special hardware.
The G11 was not factory fitted to the GT perhaps because it would have put the car in a different category. Even in std trim (single 4 barrel Nikki) gives 134 HP. With webers and GTB gear have to be around 150-160. The engine assy is bolt in replaceable for G7.Its actually an easier engine to support than the G7. Holden 161 pistons and Sigma shells are a near perfect replacement.

i only know of one other Gloria in Oz, owned by Laurie, a fellow who has a gaggle of prince's and is part of the Prince GT Register. He laughs, because now he has someone else to talk to on it rather than to himself :lol:

Kev, if you are gong to the Nationals in Bathurst/Katoomba, you will see him there. I'm lucky enough to know them exceptionally well, and they are very eager to get their hands on it for a look.
This is Laurie's gloria......

The fellow I bought it off used to do the odd historic rally in it (all tarmac), hence the bonnet pins. He flared the guards too. The rest is pretty much std. Mechanically- friggin' fantastic. Body? well it's a little rough. More in original condition with a few cracks, crows feet, chips etc in the paint. Back carpets are excellent, front needs replacing.

I took pics of the goodies in the boot, but the card corrupted so will take more tomorrow. but i did bring this in with me...

Snap....same book. Yours and mine are the only 2 that I know of. Mine is dated September 1965 though.

Sadly we only got the G7 engines in our Glorias, even the later A30 Nissan Gloria.

I saw that there's a red 67 GTB for sale in the latest Aussie Classic Cars Mag. I had to buy the magazine, there was a Silvia on the cover :lol:

Okay....... so my clutch issues have reared its ugly head. Adjusted it, but still n no luck. i have the Mafia (what we call the Prince skyline register) founder Noel coming to have a look on Saturday and help with tightening the steering as well. So, my plans of taking it for a run tomorrow will have to wait.

Yep thats the one. There's a guy over here in WA that has a dark coloured one that he drives in the classic events. I hope to see it one day.

we had an a150 when i was a kid and a gtb is probably the only car i'd swap my bathurst gemini for :shock:
