The car came from my grandfather and is in relatively great shape. The engine stalled a few years back and from then on in was just garaged.
I'm doing a full restoration with a repaint. Currently looking for a mechanic to take a look at the 3M engine.

Like everybody else has said, very nice, very lucky. Closest I ever got to something like this was the Leica M3 my grandmother left me. Beautiful car and good luck with the resto.

The only reason i have this car now was that my grandfather was the manufacturer of Toyota here in the Philippines during the 70's to the early 80's. He brought in 4 GT's into the Philippines and this is the only one left with our family.
There are 3 2000GT's here (mine included) and the 4th one was shipped to the US.

Ill try getting in touch with Toyota Japan. The Toyota chairman was just here in Manila a couple of months ago but i unfortunately couldnt make the event that hosted the dinner.

Ill post updates as they happen. I also got the 2000GT book directly from Mr. Shin and he was kind enough to sign it for me.

This will be your man (not my son, but the old guy next to him)...he can fix your car. Picture is from Odaiba Toyota History Museum. Unfortuately he doesn't speak English. I had a pleasure of going behind the scene...behind the clear glass :) (for those who know what I am talking about) to see some of the cars being serviced by him.

Image

For the surprise....he is making a replica scale model of guess what engine!!! You can't see but on top of the pic, kinda hidden, is an original 3M parts (valve cover and other engine parts).

Mr Shin can help you too...but this guy is probably your best bet. Email me if you have questions.

Ganda ng kotse mo pare...I think I saw a pic of your car being restored in Mr Shin's page.

I got the parts and service manuals and some parts.

A complete engine and transmission.

I supply parts for the Zinn collection in Florida.

Also restored a couple of 2000GTs before at TRD USA.

WOW! Simply stunning! The 2000GT is my absolute favorite classic car; Japanese, European, or American. It takes the cake! Good luck with the restore. 8)

The person who can fly to manila to help you is Yoshitami Sekiya. He is a retired TRD mechanic who used to work for me. Speaks very good english and was Tokyo area 2000GT master mechanic.

Very familiar with 2000GTs and he has been to Manila several times. He knows Dante very well. Used to support the local Toyota race teams in the 70's.....

I will contact him if you are interested. My brother is in Manila too, and you can contact him as well. He had mentioned to me previously that someone was looking for a 2000GT engine.....
