Hey gang,

Something I haven't noticed yet is a thread for the JNT - Japanese nostalgic truck or tilly!

I definitely have a soft spot for the mostly forgotten workhorses of the JNC world. Certainly here down under, the ute has been baptized as a part of life! Japanese commercials have been over here since the late 1950's.

Love to see everyone post up their own and other pictures of JNC trucks, vans and commercials.

Here a few of mine to start it off!!

My 1966 PK31 Toyoace 25

I like the old commercial vehicles, too. Here's an old Datsun that's still on the job. The owner has his business sign on the area behind the cab.

Here's another full of gardening equipment and still working, also..

BTW, I would LOVE to have one of those Toyoace trucks. Very nice!

Duncan, love those shots of the old ute's still in use! Good to see they still live on in age in your neck of the woods.

my hiace, although converted to a camper when new is very commercial spec. Especially when compared to the ultra plush JDM Hiace commuters/super customs/living saloons

I really love those datsun 521? pickups but my fave has got to be the 620, one day I will have one of those.

Sweet van Retromat! Not too many left over here now, unfortunately rust has taken a lot of them out, how do you go in the UK with it?

cheers! Rust is a really killer on these, almost all of the ones that have survived are campers in the UK. Most of the commercial spec ones will have been driven into that ground and/or exported to Africa. Mines had alot of welding over the years and will need more cosmetics or the coming year.

I went on holiday to Malta last year and saw quite a few in good condition still in use.

Wow, they all look to be in great condition for their age, don't seem to have the Aussie "drive it till it dies, then its got five years left" use!!

Like the Brown Hiace there with the mags, look very similar to our CSA Tritons/Speedy Aungers or jelly bean mags as they're more commonly called here.

Mate, just what I like to see, someone going on holidays and snapping photo's of old JNC commercials!! Can't talk really, do it myself!

Y E S !

I have to admit it was the strangest purchase I have ever made. It took over a year to iron out the details but I ended up with the truck. The local sheriff had tagged the truck (move it or lose it) so the previous owner was desperate to move it. I was there at the right moment and scored the truck for a song! Its now tucked away in a garage out of the elements.
Would love to restore it but not sure just when that will be. The front tire is the original Yokohama from the factory. The mileage reads 2000, the hour meter reads 50.

Had it flat bedded (nearly fell off the trailer) to a storage facility and was promptly evicted a month later because it was "too ugly". Found another facility that was more tolerant of J-tin.

This guy has four or five Prince & Nissan trays, and 10 or more Renault 4. A curious combination for anyone perhaps...

Image

and a couple of kei-trucks in their native habitat:
Image

Sometime in 2009 the JDM consumed more kei than regular vehicles. Anywhere in rural Japan, the majority of the work is done by kei. Either as regular cars, 4WDs, or the popular tray.

This Isuzu two- or three-tonne is in a barn at the base of Fuji-san. The period details inside are really neat, very US 1950s style.
Image

This guy has a Masters in kei commercial parking it seems:

Neko.
