There was a nice straight CRX coach-conversion (couldn't find a label) convertible in the Pick-a-Part here a few months ago. I wanted to at least get the top stack and ideally chop the entire tale off it... but at that point you might as well take the entire car. .
Glad you have learned a few things. I learn about more cars every week it seems. Is it possible that this is the Straman CRX you saw at the salvage yard:
If so, it was saved by a member of redpepperracing.com
If not.....I wonder if it's still there? Do you have any idea? There are guys looking for these and would love to pull it out if it has not yet been crushed. We believe that only about 130 were actually built for all model years. If you go back, I am collecting the ST# etched in the top frame near the driver's side release latch and the conversion date on the driver's side door jamb (plus a photo) for a Straman registry.
Just one question, "Slim": I remember seeing a one-off show car -- but coachbuilt -- circa 1992 300ZX full-convertible, based on the 2+2 model, not the 2-seater shown at a car show back then. If I remember right, it was a very beautiful blue color and I always had the impression that Straman built it. I always loved that car because the lines of the 2+2 actually worked really well with it and I prefer full-convertibles. Do you remember that car and have any images of it...?.
I do not know about the car you are talking about. Straman did built about seventy-five 1990-1991 Nissan 300ZX convertibles...so maybe it was a Straman car?
