well, back to reality, look at what the guy has done, he has removed the rear and detached the whole skeleton so he can remove the rust inside







oh anyways, i decided to assemble my toy car from japan, have a look

amazing work on the rust. makes me a little ashamed to be scrapping one with a lot less rust. but that doesn't stop the fact that i need spares.

is the anything from a S800 that you might need that i may have?





it's been rolled and then stored for 30 years so it's not great. the shell and chassis will end up on ebay along with the seats , doors, winders, door panels etc. let me know if there is something that i may have that i can post easily. (i will be keeping a lot of parts so don't be dissapointed if i wont let certain items go)

hi bozwell, i would be extremely thankful if you can offer me some of the parts for sell. you will contribute a great deal to me, as i plan to put this in the next local vintage and classic car concourse. the locals and the singaporeans always think that the european sports cars are way more superior. i want to scare them with pre-vtec power, hehe. well, sadly, there isn't any other S cars around, yet alone scrapped ones, so these are indeed very rare in malaysia, i cant find replacement bonnets nor boot covers and even the front bumper, which is isnt in the best condition

if you think you could send these loose parts, i dont mind paying the shipping and the amount of the items as long as they are fairly priced. i will credit you, when the car gets previewed in the local car magazine. i will make sure your name gets credited. just write me your full name if you want to. you will contribute a great deal in helping me restore this car and it will be the only working and most complete one in south east asia

anyways, id love to have that steering wheel, with the center cap, center console plastic, with the heater and cigarette lighter knob. the C & W knobs and the one in the middle knob. rear view mirrors, spare wheel undercarriage cover and jack, the front wheel spindles (as one of the screws broke when the guys took off the tires) turn signal plastic switch (without the stalk) and gear boot. give me a good deal with shipping. i will pm u the same for that then.

i also gotten these hubcaps from yahoo japan auctions and they really cost a bomb. but i have no choice to buy them, since they are pretty rare

50-75mm micrometer @ rm70 with shipping to measure pistons (USD 1 = RM3.3)

Congratulations upon the progress. That rear-hatch / boot-lid certainly looks like a nightmare to re-construct & the exhaust system really is a work of art I wouldn't want to have to duplicate either so I'm glad others were able to help there.
It is encouraging to see the work being performed.

thanks for the comments 79cord. ive seen ur cord before, pretty nice, how long had u had ur cord already? i was living in melbourne back then, down funky town (frankston area) right behind of monash uni. i had a mitsubishi lancer CE2 and a honda integra dc2 Vti-r later on. I guess i couldn't get enough of the high revving Honda engine. the exhaust was sent from a small town in NSW. this guy, stephen was really helpful and he sent me the carburetor back then, although shipping from australia is really a nightmare. i believe since my car was the malaysian/australian spec, the car parts are abundant in australia!

I've had the Accord nearly 20 years now, having bought it in a scruffy state whilst still in high school & learning to drive in it. It's been my daily driver for most of that time though had an extended rest after I damaged it & had to get another to take its place, & the CR-X Vtec that followed but twitchy, overweight with options & a peaky, revy engine with a close-ratio g-box that's no replacement for the Accords allround flexibility for everyday use. It mightn't rev to extremes or feature much power but is still satisfying & more than willing to play-along when you want to rev it out.

So it has led to many other Honda including my '65 S600 "project" which like most has been butchered mechanically but reasonable rust wise & might still recover as I try to piece togeather parts for a workable engine & hope what I have will be sound.
I guess we probably received a good proportion of the S600 (more than S800) in Australia , & I have 60's magazines stating it was out-selling competitors like the sprite/midget but so few have survived mechanically they are still rare.

hi cord, thanks for your input on some history. i take it that your perhaps as old as the car or maybe older.

honda has demonstrated great history throughout the years and its no wonder it has such a strong following from all different generations.

i believe the accord is such a refined car, though of course, you can't compare it to european car levels, but at the price your paying, its good quality enough if you tell me

i would appreciate some scanned articles from your older magazine if its not too much of a hassle. at least we could educate the european classic car snobs, that the japanese has been playing catch a long long time

i think the best pride for aussies and kiwis alike is that denny hulme once raced in one of the s600 in jack brabham's team and won in the 1000 cc category, when it was going against the fiat abarth 1000. thats an incredible feat!

The Accord was definitely a benchmark car for it's class that competitors worldwide had to try & improve upon, Wheels magazine here in Hindsight even awarding it car of the decade over their other award winners for its significance as such. Though being a highly successful, financially sane, mass-market car (1.5 million+ 1st gen.), with many later imitators does allow many to forget how special it was and make for a low survival rate...

Where the S600 is so unique as such a small & complex package, a dream car that no-one could economically have hoped to duplicate. And as a dream car many were kept hidden away long after they stopped working.

Sadly that note regarding sales was nothing more than that so my only other period "S" magazine article is a British S800 roadtest... though my father had kept the S600 brochures he had got when they were originally sold here, & I have seen scans of those about.
I must also keep an eye out for the S600/800 Road-test compilations that were printed.

honda did set a lot of benchmarks for other cars. they have high achieving accolades and ideals that were developed and made into passenger cars. sadly the newer honda innovations are always hybrid and green cars. though not really a bad thing, we are missing honda's racing roots, really. but yes, scan whatever u have, it be great contribution to the honda historians

Wow its taking shape really quick, he must be a really experience welder.Do you know how much time does he have in the bussiness? What color will you end up painting it? Was it green from factory?

he does his job from 9.30 am to 7pm. the job costs 3.5k now, about 1000 USD for everything, as he quotes the rear bonnet and the front bumper did cost him some time.

anyways the welding works finished, so busy showing my british friend around my town.

anyways, car welded for a bill of 1000 USD! damn. car was then collected and towed to the painters. lets see what the painters can do!

look at how tiny this car is, in comparison to a daihatsu mira

not much update with the painters. only started removing parts from the car again. at the mean time, other parts needed to be chromed and electroplated were sent to a specialist in ipoh, the state capital of my area. the specialist also does up the crown prince's triumph, could be a good thing with the quality and price then i hope!

A lot of hard work gone into this, cannot wait for the paint job to be finished.
