Hi all,

I got this car after it was rescued from our local tip. The problem is that I can't seem to get much info on this model, or locate a service manual.

Overall it's in pretty good condition for its age and starts first time, rust is minimal, it has 5 alloy wheels, upholstery is pretty good and even the factory stereo is still fitted.

The car also has an Australian compliance plate meaning it was sold new here.

The only problems are with the 3 speed auto which is missing 2nd and third, a damaged rear bumper, and some small trim items that are missing.

Can anyone help with some info on this model, or suggest a source of spares?

that thing is BEGGING for the VIP treatment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never even heard of that model before.... yet another awesome sweet car that the US never got.... I'd guess that's a L28 in there, judging by the name and L6 underhood pic... maybe a 5speed from z/zx would work? I'm sure datsunfreak has got some knowledge to bless you with..... anyway, sweet ride!! can't wait to see some progress!!! :tu: :tu:

These were pretty common in Southeast Asia, I believe, so I'm afraid spares will have to come from overseas...

Looks like a skyline steering wheel you have there.

I had a 260c a few years ago, and they were fairly rare over here, but this car seems almost unheard of in Australia.

You are right MC the steering wheel is off a Skyline, the soft steering wheels tend to disintegrate in the Aussie sun.

I'm happy with the spec of the car so would just like to get it back on the road as part of our collection.
It's number three in line at the moment, please have a look at our website http://www.rothwells.id.au for more pictures of this and some of our other cars.

I pulled the engine out of a 280C some years ago. Same as yours, but blue. I intended to use the engine in a 240Z, but never got around to it.

Here in Belgium it was only delivered in L28D (2800 Diesel, 6 cil). 3 colors available: silver, green and gold.
In France, it was more popular, for unknown reasons...

I learned driving with this beauty and it drived sooo comfortable...

It looks like a Cedric or a Gloria. I'm more leaning towards a Cedric, though.

Thats what the "C" in 280C meant....Cedric (180B/200B = Bluebird, 200L/240L = Laurel etc)

The Cedric and Gloria shared the same body in both hardtop and sedan form, except the Gloria had a higher trim specification than the Cedric. 280C was the name given to the export models.

NZ never had the 430 Series here new, but we did get a few as used JDM imports in the late 80's. Not many of them left now. Nissan Australia sold them new, so im guessing there were a few out there at some stage, but like any vehicle of that age, it gets to a point where the value of repairs exceeds the value of the car and they are sent to the wrecking yard.

Nice interior but needs some work on the outside...
That car was more or less common here in Colombia and can be seen very often on the streets. It has an L28 inside with a single carburetor, it is a luxurious car and it has potential, some 83 models came with the L-Jetronic injection from the ZX, i like it a lot and the pillarless version is nicer.

Here is a pillarless version that is listed on a local website.

another 280C listed.

Well. Ben why not? may be we could go together and have some fun in Panama, we just need a 4x4 to go across the Darien rain forest and pull the Datsun, and a couple of beers :)

I see in your avatar a nice 430, with beige interior trim, is it yours?
If so, can you post some pics please?

Many many thanks in advance!
