Just wondering what the concensus is on the Mazda Miata Eunos Roadster being considered Nostalgic. I know its not as aged as most platforms discussed here but just curious

In our middle- and north-european circumstances (long winters, a lot of salt on the streets), a car is getting interesting when it´s more than 20 years old because then it´s already very rare on the streets. After 20 years, they are called "Youngtimer", after 30 and more years they are "Oldtimer" which means "classic car".

Here, the first MX-5 is already a Youngtimer! For example I restored my 1988 Camry because it is already a very rare car here, all rusted away. This may be different in Arizona or California for example...

the cutoff is usually 1984 (eg, ae86, z31 & starion) so the mx5 and s13 don't normally qualify ... not to say they don't show up to old school events anyway ...

I personally give the Miata a special exemption because while it's still a fairly new car, it is an old car at heart.

Very simple, very basic, light weight and RWD. :tu:

There is something charming about the MX-5 that makes me want to give it an exception. Even so, there's only 5 more years to go.

Regardless of its status, it's something everyone here can appreciate.

makes me feel better subscribing to jnc magazine and rockin the sticker on my miata. Im no slouch to the classics though, my father used to crew with his friends locally who owned a datsun dealership, raced scca with everything from the 210-510 240-260-280-200sx. I have a ton of old black and white photos, from road atlanta, the glen, frizzy hair paul newman....and all
