Seen at JCCS. I was hoping to ask the owner about the engine swap but never saw anyone near the car...

very clean Crown! what's that motor? A 4-, 5- or even 7M would have been better in there

It is a 5M.

Just a 5MGE rather than the SOHC 5M.

aah i c; it seems quite easy to find engines and complete cars on the other side of the pond which are rare as white flies in europe!

I went to that site and it seems like its a lawn ball tournament site? lol

They have topics about "having a first heart attack", or "getting hips replaced so had to sell his balls".

You have to log in to see the "real" site.

They don't like "lurkers".

5MGE is essentially a drop-in with the exception of the brake master on the U.S. cars. Stock brake setup under the hood was already a little strange to begin with since the booster wouldn't fit where it belonged, so they put it remotely on the side. On this installation, he welded together a nice custom intake. Other options would be to get a different booster and master from another toyota by trial and error (later Crown series, Pickups), or others suggest moving it to the clutch side if it's an automatic.

This is a really nice stock looking Crown that was deserved of the awards it received at the show!

We acually have had no brake master problems at all. just a couple of oil pan issues. we needed to use the stock 2m oil pan{no problems} but the pump was bad and a replacment 2m oil pump is tricky to find. Also it had something to do with the gen/chassis we got the 5m from, it was an older celica/supra model 5m.

Hey datsunfreak, if that is the guy I am thinking of, his name is theshaz or something like that. He has an mx32, an mx73, the ms6 (if he still has it), and that crown also.

If it is in fact the car I am thinking of, he got that engine brand new from toyota. It was a nos block with no head that he got stupid cheap.

The one in the photo, yes. The one in gaijinshogun's Crown, no idea. That's why I asked.

Sorry...speaking in generics. 5M-GE, used to be cheap and plentiful for a low mileage one in the U.S.

No such thing as a 5M in the U.S., only a 5M-E which is pretty rare and a boat anchor like the original 2M.
