Hey guys,

I'm new here, found this site because I was looking for info on the car I want to buy.

I'm looking at a 1978 Mazda RX5;

You can have a look here;
Well, I can't put the link in, will have a follow post,.

Looks in mint condition, haven't inspected the car in person yet. Was wondering if anybody knew some things to look out for? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

That's a 121, not an RX5.

Looks tidy, and not a bad price!! Colour not to my liking :?

If you like it, I say buy it!!!!!

Welcome! From the photos the car is gorgeous, and I love how it's going to brown town.

Without writing an entire essay, the list of things to look out for are what's true for any old car. Rust along the cowl and frame rails, rocker panels, around the glass. As well as evidence of previous repairs. Good luck!

Love the 80's Poo brown!
They are pretty good overall, but can have rust at the bottom of the A pillars, if there is rust there inspect the plenum, it can rust at the edges, which will wet your feet! The base of the rear window and the lip of the boot above the rear beaver (under the rubber seal) go too. That one looks dayum tidy, so may not have the first few rusty areas, but only the very best have no rust on the boot lip (the seal traps water & channels it down, rusting out the steel reinforcing of the seal as well) That is more of a minor inconvenience than a problem
