Toyota/Lexus will start accepting deposits for the LF-A, after it is shown in this year's Tokyo Auto Show. Only 500 units, divided into 3 markets: Japan, USA, rest of the world. Price $300K. The final production specs were signed off only 2 months ago.

This car will surpass the stature of the 200GT. And like the 2000GT (in it's era) will prove equal or better than current European supercars.

So, Ben/Dan: we need 600 JNCers with $500 and they all get to drive it every 599 days. Or rent out at $500/day. Or sit on it for $5.

or, might be easier if we pooled the money for Lotto tickets....

I think the naming will have more in line with Lexus convention than Toyota tradition tho. So say...something like "LF-A"?

LF-A is part of the concept car naming conventions. The latest RX was the LF-Xh as a concept, remember? Logic sugests the "A" would be part of the name, and it has been shown wearing an "F" badge so maybe something-A-F?

My choice would be GT-F,but I can understand some people's view that it may too closely resemble GT-R.
All I can say is:imagine having one of these and a 2000GT in one's garage! Utter automotive bliss! :D

I will gladly throw in $500 on that project.

Glad to see this come to fruition, wish it was a little more affordable, but heck even at $100k I'd say the same thing so I'm just glad to see Toyota in the SuperCar Market.

official designation : LFA (without the dash)

production: 500 units / 20 a month
car is distributed 1/3 to Japan, 1/3 to US. 1/3 to rest of the world

owners will be able to choose from 20 exterior colors
interior leather and woodtrim about 60 options
even brake caliper colors are also optional!
you will have 6 months to decide your choices

V10 components are cast by Toyota (same plant as the F1 castings)
most suspension pieces are cast aluminum

cars will be assembled in a special section at the Motomachi plant
there is no assembly line; cars will be on individual cradles
engine assembled and tuned by Yamaha

there is so much "acoustic" engineering on the car and engine
there is a membrane under the dashboard that transfers some of the engine harmonics to the cockpit;
exhaust will not be loud but the car will emanate an unbelivable sound !!!

I'm glad there's a Yamaha involvement in the engine bay.Call me a sentimentalist, but it's just plays so nicely on the heritage of the 2000GT.

I think Yamaha has been behind the scenes in a lot of Toyota motors over the years. I think the 1JZ Chaser motor has Yamaha cast into the head.

Yes,they've had an involvment on quite a few motors,1JZ-GTE included according to wikipedia.I'm far from the most knowledgable fellow here on mechanical matters,so correct me if I'm wrong.
