Hi again gang,

The latest JNC saved for the museum is a 1975 MS85 SE Crown sedan.

As you can see from the photo's, very clean and original condition vehicle, drives an absolute treat. The KM's on the clock are genuine, only traveling 37,000 km since 1975! The 4M engine purrs. The only real mod as you can see, is the almost regulation dash fan that adorned many Aussie cars back then.

This vehicle was at one of my local scrapyards ready to be cubed. It was in it's final hours. It does my head in on how a piece on history ends up there but luckily to chap that runs this particular yard doesn't like to see vehicles like this unnecessarily crushed. I only wish more of these yards could at least call someone before cars like this are lost.

It has a brother in the same yard in the super saloon Crown spec which I'm picking up next week which I'll post up next week. Sorry though Ben, it too is a sedan!

Enjoy.

My uncle had one of these, amazing how quiet/refined they are. 4M had died so it had a 5M for some reason.

Re the fan - wot, no air con? :D

Uncles one was fully loaded - auto, elec antenna, air con etc etc. Colour wouldve interested you tho - kermit green with white vinal

yeah, such a joy to drive!

No, didn't get the A/C, but has everything else. There's another at the same yard I'm grabbing next week that's in the same spec as your uncle, it has the dual A/C system which still works, nice! Minus that awesome kermit green paint though, that sounds like a great combo!

Sad that such a clean car can be sent to the crushers. Thanks for saving this puppy! You have this Crown fan as you faithful servant.

Just couldn't leave it there Ben. And like just about all of us on here, I'm quite happy to pay more than the scrap metal price they will get.

Hopefully will have a chance in the next day or two to grab it's brother and post it up.

Update again.

Went and retrieved the second Crown from it's cubing fate yesterday.

The second Crown is a 1979 MS85 super saloon version. This one is the top of the line over here in it's time. Comes with all power accessories including power windows and locks. Also has the really cool dual A/C system with Toyota air purifier unit. This one has a few more Km's than the other, but still worthy to live at the museum and not as a recycled steel Hyundai fuel door flap!

Another note as well to mention is both of the Crowns are Aussie made, coming from the AMI plant down in Victoria.

Enjoy. Especially you Ben, you Crown nut!

I know mate, couldn't believe it myself. The yard in question also sells new steel and I was getting some new piece's to repair the tray frame on the Toyota 25 utility.

The Crown's were round the back right next to the steel I needed.......

Obviously the Crown's and I were meant to be!

Very good job! There aren't that many Crowns here. Most end their reign as banger racers
