1967(?) mazda 1000 deluxe. Restoration completed.





1973 3 mazda RX3 sedan (deluxe). 2 of them are going to be restored. One has the original (matching number) 10A. Collecting parts.














1971 mazda RX2 coupe. Brand new 12A twin dizzy. Restoration completed.

1968 mazda 1500 deluxe. Late A6 car. Restoration almost completed






1973 RX4 hardtop. A difficult desicion. I always wanted a pre 10/1975 car, instead of the realtively common in Greece 1975 on cars. Unfortunately, as no more than 20-30 pre 10/1975 hardtops were sold locally, my chances were not that big to find a descent car. I initially bought a greek market car, but as the situation of the car was terrible and I had to spend a lot of money for an uncertain result this beauty remained as a donor and parts car:




On the contrary of my "principles" I bought a Cyprus market RHD one.
Well, these are the only two hartops spotted the last 6 years, in any case.
The car is under restoration.



Last week



1983 mazda RX7. As bought.
99% stock original.
At a recent 1300 km trip.





1981 mazda RX9 (LA42S [12A]). 100% stock original, matching number.
When it was bought. Details have been fixed since the photo





mazda T600 has been presented here, 1000 and RX2 at "ausrotary".

Madaz you probably know that I was helped a lot by some ausrotary guys to the restoration of this car as it is a RHD car, i.g. the y scanned for me the RHD parts book etc.
-Yes I know the guy very well. he used to run the Cosmo at the regularity rallies, now he runs with a 79-80 RX7. Its a L10A car. Its the grey car you can see at the Cosmo meeting in Germany.
-I got some pictures of the green RX4. But the interior was so messy that you cannot see a lot of the car;s features. I ll try to post some pictures of RX4s in Greece in general as it seems that most face lift (10/1975 on) LHD 12A cars were sold here.

Wow, so Greece got the early Familias?? I would love one of those!
In Holland we started with the 1500, I like yours very much too!

Mazda most likely was the first japanese make that appeared to Greece. So we got R360, 600 (Carol), k360, early D1500 and B1500 (the one that is posted in a topic from AU at this forum). From all those models the last survivor was an early (1963-1964) D1500, seen four years ago,. When, after some months, I returned in order to negotiate the sale, it was gone to scrap.

R360s and Carols, I am jealous. If there are any left, that is.
I'd love to buy an early Familia from Greece, that would be some roadtrip!

From what I know, Greece had some horrible scrap-schemes in the last years, but at my last visit, I still saw a huge amount of OJCs still on the road, compared to northern parts of Europe were OJCs are almost extinct.

If by OJC you mean old japanese cars, yes there are many. Actually Greece has the older cars fleet comparing with the rest of the old 15 EU members. Maybe I am wrong, but the greek average is 2 years more than the general average. This is related with the GNP per capita (Greece is only ahead of Portugal and a bit lower than Spain), but with the car price policies also. Anyway, right now there is a legislation after which the state pays 1,000 euros for every pre-1995 car going to scrap with the condition the car is registered at 2009 and 1,000 euros more for everyone who buys a new car with specific non-pollution features. As you can imagine this is a catastrophy for the collectors. No one will sell his/her ...1985 323 less than 2,000 euros. But I think even after that, some cars will remain due to big numbers of new immigrants who cannot afford to buy a new car, that a lot of those cars are used by professionals like plumbers (?), electricians etc., older people who dont care or dont want to sell their cars etc.


-Mazda was not a successful brand in Greek market, besides 1200 and B1600 pickups. So there are not many survivors from 70s. I started this painful hobby seven years ago. Never seen or heard of a R360, 600, early B1500.
Yes there is, or at least used to be a couple of months ago, a pre-1968 1000 (Familia) for sale, a not registered car. He was asking for ...1500 euros, I offered him 500 with no chance.
But in general no more than 300 RX2s were sold here, no more than 60-70 RX3s. More than 750 76-on RX4s were sold though and a decent sedan can be easily found. 1500s and 1800s are hard but not immpossible to be found also.

Sometimes it seems nice old Mazdas are just as rare in the US, but I'm sure I'm exaggerating. Stay vigilant!

I bought a NOS 12A Twin dizzy some time ago. But a failure appeared, so I had to go for a rebuild. After 8 months of searching for the parts I achieved to collect them. Here is the car at one of her first rides after rebuild.

Great collection, Seeing the purple rx4 brought back great memories.
My older brother at rx4 coupe in the same colour or close too. it was running a 13b extend port. It was the first rotary I went in when i was 14 or 15. I had a S2 rx2 sedan within a year! great cars.

I was told because they (those who intalled the engine) didnt remove the protective film they used to have that time at the water cells. In any case, cells were full of mud.

At 140 km after the rebuild, the compression is at 8.2 to 8.3 at both rotors, so hopefully I ll go for 8.5 (kg/cm2)+, for an engine the say can reach as optimum 8.8.
