I Found an old magazine from 1978 :
Auto International published in the Phillippines
( Only the cover was is colour, pages were all black and white )
Featuring : 1978 Southern Cross Rally in Australia/ Macau Grand Prix

Lancia Stratos!!!

Philippine teams brought with them their Corolla SRs and Ford Escort RS2000. Led by Dante Silverio, Boy Saycon, Johnny Pascual, Boy Fuentes, Arthur Tuason and Judes Echauz.

Man and machine, side by side, no computers to aid the driver.

...Awesome. I'd almost, almost want to see a scan of the Filipino sentiment on the ZX (am half Filipino, the top half I think... :lol: Lived at Clark for a year, family comes from Tarlac, can't speak a bit of Tagalog/Capampangan, so I get ripped mercilessly at family gatherings)

I should scan some stuff...

Pity my Japanese reading skills are atrocious, a lot of the new car tests and concept articles look like they are worth reading :x

The term "macho machine" was used as a tag line for the Corona ad during that time by a female copywriter. So all 2 door Coronas were called as such.

The last 2 door Corona came out in 1981. These cars were seen driven by popular basket ball players since TOYOTA maintained a team for the PBA ( Philippine Basketball Association ).
