Anyway, here's my car. Latest look. Should I post the restoration process from the beginning?

Some info:

My car is running on a UC engine series. Its 1.4L and was taken from a Mazda Bongo/Ford Econovan engine. Previous owner had done the engine transfer.

Original engine of 808 should be running on a TC engine series with 1.3L.

With my neighbour. The Watanabe's offset is a pussy. 13 x 6.5j +10. So I removed the front flare for a while.

Car is in a workshop now. Specialist in Mazda 808.

Doing overhaul, welded diff, stiffen leaf spring, oversize piston, etc. And most important, full bodywork to seal all the holes n rust, and some cistom flare to make it sit tight with the wheels.

almost 3weeks already the car is in the workshop.

Engine already brought down. 3rd piston got low compression which mean internal parts are damaged. Sigh, I miss my car.

Next week, gonna take some measurement to make a DIY roll cage. Yep, DIY.

I really like your car. It looks great and the pictures are also very good, a pleasure to the eyes.:mrgreen:

I'm also considering a 808 or a 818 as it is called in my country. Guess they didn't want people confusing them with Peugeot because of the "0" in the middle.
There are 2 choices. A rather beaten coupe with the round headlights or a very well taken care of sedan, just like yours.

But there is one thing that bothers me. It seems that it's very difficult to get hold of parts to upgrade items like the suspension which is not the best we can find in it's stock configuration. Live axle, leaf springs in the back, the front is also not the best kind... :|

Am I correct? Is it easy to do a quality upgrade? What would the options be? What are your current specs, if I may ask?

I'm asking because the car will have the company of my friends Ford Escort MK2, BMW 1602, Datsun 1200, Toyota KE70 (a car that I let escape to a friend as I found he would be able to take much better care of it...it was a mistake :( I miss the car already even though he takes excellent care of it), etc. A very nice group of RWD owned by people who like to enjoy their cars and the company of theirs friends :)

In comparison all this cars have a wide range of available equipment which allow them to upgrade. The KE70 with it's very reasonable AE86 compatibility, the Datsun with race material, the Escort has an incredible range of choices with specifically design new components, etc.


So can the 808/818 hope for the same? Is there any company that makes new and specific components for this model, upgrades in suspension, steering, etc? Or is there any more recent Mazda model that can be a suitable "donor" for an easy and efficient upgrade?

Coupe is rarer but I prefer sedan coz 808 coupe looks weird. Especially with round headlights.

I had seen an 808 with RX7 subframe, live axle, steering rack conversion from KE70. Me myself is using a TEIN adjustable from Nissan S13 for my front suspension. The rear, I just use 3tonne lorry absorber and a stiffen leaf spring.

What is the mission for the car? If you are going to enter some racing or drift competition, I still prefer KE70. AE86 after markets parts is plenty. As for me, Im making a drift machine. I am wrong with the machine's choice. Mazda 808 parts? Super hard to find nowadays. But I'll continue whatever path I had chose. Donor? RX7 engine maybe? We have one of these RX808 with 4AGE, AE86 LSD, and everything also from AE86. The dashboard is from RX7.
