Hi guys long time reader short time poster, heres my colt I picked it up for a damn good price off a guy that was more in to his fords than Mitsis, Cars got 150 thousand kilometers on it, not bad for a '76 came totally original and was owned by an old lady from 1984-2004 and clocked up a massive 30,000 in 20 years, even has owners hand book and master & secondary keys.

Agreed, bloomin’ lovely isn’t it?! We’ve been talking about those on another forum, after someone snapped a shot of this one in London:

Virtually extinct here in the UK, only ones I can recall seeing in the metal were both in scrapyards.

Cheers guys and thanks Spottedlaurel for the pics they will go straight in my collection.

My names Ryan, and I'm from Christchurch New Zealand. I've been hooked on J-tin coupes since I was about ten years old.
My Dad had a RT95 corona coupe which we spent countless weekends polishing (maybe it was just a ploy to get me to help, hmmmm.) and allways said I could have it when I got my licence. Untill some asshole stole it from the local mall carpark  and twas never seen from again, probably
sold for parts, was quite rare.

So this car just came up cheap so I nabbed it, I'm also in negotiations on buying a GTO, will have pics of it next Saturday when I pick it up if all goes well....

Ok the sale and pick up went well, got it cheaper than expected due to it not running, which took us about ten minutes to figure out it had a blocked fuel filter, after that was removed she ran great, much to the owners dismay, he probably was out of pocket on this one  .

Heres a quick few picks while Im out of the garage for five minutes, more to come....

Hey mate, nice score!! Obviously your'd be in the NZ GTO club thing? (as a former member I can tell you they are super helpfull).

Was that colt a Tauranga car? As I remember seeing one same colour/quality up this way a year or so ago.

And the GTO's looking mean as allways!! Some GSR badges wouldn't go wrong, since it's got the stripe, black painted taillight surround panel, flares etc...

These were sold in New Zealand, along side the Colt Galant 1850 and Galant 1600L. There used to be lots of them round but most have have ended up in the wreckers due to either rust or smashed. For a while in the mid/late 80's they werent worth anything so the ended up as "boys" cars and were to pretty much "raced, rallyed and rolled"

When new they seemed to have been bought by people in their 40's, both men and women. One of my female 40+ teachers owned one from new. They are few and far between here now sadly, its good to see an original one still on the road. Hope it stays that way :)

Yeah, tis a gorgeous car that gold one.
At the moment the GD's front has been lowered by about two inches, the backs yet to be done (busy getting my bucketracer ready for this season) and the GTO is getting a full on go through to find all those little bits of rust hiding here and there, will eventually get put on the spit roast for a full bare metal re-spray.
I really want this thing to be show car standard, but Im having trouble tossing up weather or not to remove or even how to remove the sunroof, any ideas??

With the Celica I almost swapped it for, was a GT and had a few wee toys on it.

Ey, bro, is your 1976 Galant missing an older uglier brother somewhere?? :D I think I might have found it here in the US of A badged as a 1975 Dodge Colt of course. I really wish Dodge or Mitsubishi didn't have to change the front grill and tail style for the N. American market. Anyways I still love it to death, but the JDM style is much better IMHO.

Heres your car's brother from another mother. 8)
