Im Jetto from the Philippine Islands. I would like to share my 1989 Nissan 720 Crew Cab 4X2 pick up.

Its a 1989 model here in our country. The engine is a diesel powerplant SD23. Everything is original, the paint, the interior, the engine, except for the rims ( which is for a 2001 Nissan Frontier pick up).
Here it was fondly called " The Nissan Classic Pick Up "
Its got 128,000++ kms on it .

The camper shell on the bed is an aftermarket FRP item locally made by Camper Shells which was installed on the truck when it came out the dealership.

The first owner was a family friend, the truck was always maintained at the dealership whenever it needs service or parts.
Well the time came when none of his children liked it (since all of them were girls ), so when it was mentioned that he was selling it, I went right away to his house and bought it.


Its got no power steering, no power windows, and no factory seatbelts ( seat belts are not standard equipment on this truck)!

It has a working radio/ cassete player by Pioneer (factory installed) 6X9 Pioneer speakers on the door panels, front and rear bench seats. It has seatbelts now. Has a 5 speed manual tranny.

Just your simple, basic truck! What more could you ask for! I love driving it! And its fuel efficient 10-14 kms per liter of diesel.

Its been 2 years already, its for keeps! Still Strong and Reliable as ever!

I hope there are other 720 enthusiast out there!

Note : Back at the rear, 4WD and rare Skyline Emblem were placed there for novelty. Makes the guy driving behind it think that there might be an RB25 powerplant lurking under the hood. Hehe! Up front the mandatory JAF grill Badge.

Most of the pick ups sold here at the Philippines are 4 door Crew Cabs, thats what we call it. Its because most buyers here prefer 4 door pick ups more than 2door pick ups, thats why majority of the dealers sell 4 doors.

That "SKYLINE" badge is just weird man, whip that back off.

Thats a cool "little" truck. Not a big fan of the rims but oh well. Were seat belts not mandatory in the Philippines in 89?

originally the rims were 14 inch steelies. the tires were brand new , so instead of throwing it away i just bought 14 inch OEM Nissan Frontier mag wheels from a 2nd hand wheel store . i was planning to buy 15x7.5 SSR Auswich Wheels with 225/ 60 /15 tires but i was tight on my budget.

The seat belt law was implemented in the Philippines around 1995. so some pre 1990 cars didnt have seatbelts as standard equipment.

Right -hand drive cars and trucks once roamed Philippine roads. Until around early 90's that they were banned due to rising road accidents involving right-hand drive vehicles. So its still possible to find rare JDM cars here hidden in garages.

Funny, there is a gold one of those very clean looking just down the road from my university. asking 60,000bht thats 1100 pounds in the uk and about 1700 bux US.

I would have said it was a steal given that there is a Mira for sale next to it at 80,000bht. But I just bought my (much less tidy but so much more groovy) 620 for half that. So I can't rate the price.

Its a good buy though. trucks in thailand AINT cheap!

Its been 10 years i had kept that skyline emblem. I found in a used parts store.

It was in the year 1999 that i had seen a real Skyline, a R32 4 door model with diplomatic plates.
Skylines during those times were really rare. Unlike today, a lot of japanese cars are imported thru grey markets.

well, so as to avoid misplacing the "Skyline" badge. I temporarily placed it on the truck.

If i could just find a cheap Nissan truck, maybe i could stuff in a RB25 DET . He he. And make it look like a sleeper. That would be great.

I took off the " Skyline" Badge off the tail gate a while ago. Looks better!

and guess what broke down..... the car's aircondition.

sorted the wires and the fuse got busted. the culprit is a grounded fan motor.

well might as well have the system cleaned as well.

changing the engine in this truck is running through my mind........rb25det........wow like a skyline pickup on steriods.
how i wish.....
