I've just bought another super six parts car for the automatic transmission. My "three on the tree" has worn syncros on 2nd gear and they really aren't that nice to change compared to a floor shift. I've had to buy a whole car to get all the associated bits to do the column shift auto conversion because anything after this era like a 240C or 260c are t-bar style autos and I'd like to keep the original column shift look. Being a cruiser it will be nicer to have the auto.
I've managed to get some other parts off the car but the body is in a very sad rusty state. It had no windscreen and the side windows wound down and had been out in a paddock for some time. It will be going straight to the metal yard once stripped.
That said there are some parts that will be of use so let me know if there is something you want. It does have both side gaurd badges but they would be classifed as "needing restoration" or at least a good clean.

The column shift handle on the parts car is not in great condition. The steel rod is surface rusty and the knob on the end is broken. I'm hoping I can use my manual gearbox one or restore the auto one, I've never had one out to look at it. I'm pulling this out tomorrow providing it's not raining so I can take some pics and measurements. Not knowing what the other end is I don't know whether it will be any good to you or not but I'll see when I get it out.
Update on the gaurd badges I checked today and the drivers side is actually missing (I thought both were on it) but the passenger side will be the same item.
I noticed the other day when pulling out the front end how similar it is to a jaguar front end as used in some hot rods. Apparently the brakes are also a copy of jaguar brakes.
I've thought for a while now I'd like to see a SWB G60 patrol ute chopped, channeled and front gaurds removed with low front axle set way out front, big tall skinny 4*4 tyres and a narrowed rear bed in a rat rod style. Rear drive only. Someone has done this to an early SWB landcruiser over here but I don't think they chopped it and left the front axle in place. A G60 could also be roofless, just cut the windscreen in half. I don't have photoshop to see what it would be like but I do have a useable front end now!!! There's so many G60's over her sitting in paddocks rusting away that will never be restored that I don't classify this as sacrilegious.
Sorry to deviate the topic of this thread.

Yes my car is 3spd manual at the moment. I've got the column out of the auto car today but I finnished in the dark. The car isn't at my place so I might not be able to get pics till next weekend depending on work. I haven't compared the manual vs auto yet to see what one I can use. I'd prefer to use the one in my car now if it will work.
Will keep you posted. Might be expensive postage for a whole column to Malta.

I stripped the spare one and sent the chassis off to sims metals to get crushed (I needed the room back in my shed) I guess they on sold it??? They didn't even pay me anything for it!

Are you sure it was the same one? there was nothing left of it. just a rolling chassis, no doors, no windows , no boot/bonnet, no engine.

I still have the red one.

Nope. Got the engine going so I can shift it around the yard, but apart from that its just a lawn ornament for now. Had considered selling it, but they must be the least desirable Datsun ever made. Most of them end up in wreckers yards as scrap metal because no one wants them. I have a few other cars I need to fix before I get to the Super Six.

What was the bonnet like on the one in the wreckers? Mines a bit rusty along the front edge.

well the front is facing the road against the fence, and it looks a tad rusty too. same as the pic of your ol spare.
i know the feelin about too many cars. my 31 spat the turbo and have yet to rip the exhaust off to see. so spent most of this weekend putting a Reliant back together!!

Snap. My R31 has an overheating problem and is un-drivable (dont want to kill the motor). Have swapped thermostats from a spare engine I have in the shed, but still the same. Bought a brand new thermostat, and some radiator flush, but haven't had time to sort it out. I also have a Z31 I cant drive (brakes need attention), and another Z31 I could drive, but is unlicenced.

Have been catching public transport for the last month :( Hopefully I'll get the R31 sorted next weekend. Hopefully its not a water pump problem. Then I have to get the windscreen replaced. replace the power steering boot, fix the side window, and regass the air-con, and it will be good as when I bought it.

Yep thats mine. Unfortunately i'm renting and the property manager noted on the inspection report to remove them. I usually just ignore her, but I thinking about moving soon, so some of the collection will have to go, and I don't have any storage space.

Realistically, it last on my list of projects, so its first to go.
