My -80 Mazda 929 Hardtop

This is a picture of my ex-929 -79. It had been fitted with older sedan front which is like Rx4 pointy nose but flat at the center. I had the car for many years but then i made something stupid and selled the car.

For over a year i regretted selling the car so i then went and bought another 929 Hardtop. This one was badly rusted, but somewhat original otherwise. Couple of months later i bought yet another 929 so now i have two cars and lots of parts. Both of the cars are badly rusted and right now i am in the middle of the repairs.

Picking up the first 929 (1978):

Now i am working on the -80 929. I have new rear wings and also older sedan front like in my ex-929. I dont like the facelift "flat nose" front

left rear wing:

The car is going to be orginal with 1.8 piston motor except 14 inch steel rims and the front.

Rims:

I hope to see the car painted and running next summer. Hope you like the pictures!

Restoration is slowly progressing.. The new rear wing is in place and some new paint at the front.

Are you the same person that helped me out with the weel arch for my RX4 in Norway?

Sweet looking coupe, looks unusual with the 929 bull nose.
This front end originally came out in the 929 until 1975/76 and was on the 1973 RX-4 sedan.

I have done the pointy nose conversion on my 1977 Hardtop, similar to your 929, viewtopic.php?t=1132
But after seeing this on the weekend, I kind of thought that I should have kept mine the way it was.

Welding the new rocker panel. Could not find one for coupe so i bought rocker panel for sedan and with some work it fitted well.

Found hopefully the last rustspot.

Btw, looking for new bushings for the rear axle

Bought some new parts for a low price. They were practically giving them away

Looking for ball joints for front lower control arms. Impossible to find from Finland nowdays.

Also i have three break "shields" for left side but none to right side.

Happy to trade two left side for one right side

wow great job mate. try australia. they have lot of parts (probably used, but in good condition) course postage will cost more than brake shield, but good news are that you can get that brake shield cheap.
I have new (new old stock) never used rear light lenses for 1977. as i changed all car to 1975 so i don't need them.

Been looking new ball joints all over Europe but finally i found them right here in my hometown

Also i bought rustfree sparetire casing, painted it and replaced the old one which was in bad shape.

Right rear wing now off. A LOT of work here also

Promised that the car is finished next summer so a little bit tight schedule

Какую АКПП ставили на Mazda с VC?

Slowly progressing.. removed the rearquarter window for some antirust paint. Decided to change the rocker panel for right side also. Almost two squares of sheet metal used to the car, why hitting the brakes now?

Still hoping it to run next summer.. late next summer..

Got the right rear wing in place just before Christmas. I also spoke with the painter so we can start the "new paint for Mazda" project right when the bodywork is ready..

Removing the righthanded rocker panel showed familiar sightings...
The supporting bar inside the rocker panel is all but gone.. wondering what happens to the rigidity of the chassis?
