Hi, just signed up. Cool site with alot of interresting cars i didnt even know was out there.
I have two rs56 crowns at moment, one pickup and one utilityvan. I dont think either one was available in the states ever.

The utilityvan is my daily driver. Originally equipped with a 5R engine with a 4-speed, now it has 2.2 liter L diesel engine that i turboed and a L52 five speed tranny. It clocked 115hp and 180ft.lbs on the dyno at 20psi of boost. Originally the engine puts out 66hp and 95ft.lbs
The utilityvan looks pretty much like the ms53 i.e the maehara bros. wagons but there is alot of differences. The car never had a backseat, the trunk floor continues all the way to the front seat. There is also a semi-high divider wall behind the front seat. The tailgate folds down instead of turning to the side like the wagon and the rear suspension has leafsprings instead of coils.

I got the pickup last fall and its now undergoing some massive rust repair and getting airbags, im sorta going for a customized look with a twist. Its getting an originallike 5r and 4-speed for now.

Maybe 1JZ-GTE or 2JZ-GTE would be a good swap for the avopakettiauto?

You guys got the ms53 station wagon but not the rs56 utility van
They look the same on the outside but mine has no back seat, never had and the tailgate opens the other way. The utilityvan also has leafs in the rear while the station wagon has coils. Note the absence of all the trim around the windows etc.
A 1JZ or 2JZ swap would be dang cool but not gonna happen with our legislation. We are only allowed biggest original engine+25% displacement and 20% horsepower. Annual tech inspections doesnt make it any easier either...

18R-G or 22R would be good then. Even 1G-GEU might be ok under the displacement limit, at 2.0L.

That's why "van" was in "quotes".

I think i would pass on the 18r-g at least, not that common around here, parts would be hard to get. I just rebuilt the 5r for the pickup, parts were a b**ch to find.
22R also not very common, pickups and land cruisers are 99% diesels around here.
1G would be cool but also very hard to find, would have to import.
3S or 5S is readily available so those would be prime choises if i plan to keep the pickup gasoline powered.

Im sticking with the turboed diesel in the van, very good mileage and low tax makes it perfect for daily driving. Upgrading to a 2KD-FTV would be nice but too expensive at the moment.

The Ute is my dream car. I wish I lived in a country that had them, or a country that could import/register them :(. Very lucky, nice wagon too!!
