Celeste @ RCA
Mar 10, 2009

Hi, JNC Fans….

I’ve been following JNC since the birth of this great site. ( Just ask Kev, The Hakosuka Man ! )

I see growth….

You guys even have a JNC Motor Show in Japan…FANTASTIC.

What I’m about to share is a car which I have not seen at JNC ….

It’s a Mitsubishi Galant Celeste….that’s how it’s called in Thailand.

Instead of just showing off the car… you will ride with me , in this Celeste…….. to RCA………

RCA is a street full of life at night ; sort of Ginza of Tokyo…or King Street of Sydney….or Sunset Blvd. of Los Angeles.

But our tour would be on one early Sunday morning, the day that I took my Celeste for a morning exercise.

So, let’s go…………

TOYS Store …….

No siree, they are not selling toys here….rather a hangout for those with architecture in their vein……

The place looks post-modern…..geometry……nice……….....

Image

The stair arrangement is very welcome ….with asymmetric style……all wooden……….......

Image

Highlight of this pic could be the wheels … by Tom’s….. it’s 15 x 7” with 195 x 60 x 15 at the front and 205 x 60 x 15 in the rear. White walls are the added-on items you could buy them in Bangkok…..

I thought the window deco looked OK .....

Image

The light reflections give Celeste a metallic look….similar to the shop sign post……........

Cool photo essay. Looks like an interesting street. I assume during the later day it is very busy?

Hello George. You have a beautiful Celeste! I have a Celeste too, but I can only hope that I can get mine to look as good as yours. I looked on your website, and the interior for your car is just awesome, especially that handmade console of yours.

Excellent photos too. RCA must be a very exciting place.

Here's a picture of mine, if you were curious.

Hi Joe,

Great car pf yours !

If I'm not mistaken, Plymouth Arrow was meant for the US market, correct ?

And they all have big engine ?

We are " Brothers " in cars terms....

There are some upgraded stuff on your car such as ; wheels, bumpers, spotlights etc.

Post us some more pix. I remember before I started restoring mine, it was pretty hard to find the right pix to be used as a guideline , not until I found pix of the yellow car on Celeste brochure.

We'll keep in touch, if you're in the neighborhood, give me a call !

Cheers,

GM.

Hey George,

You're correct, these were called Plymouth Arrows in the United States.

They were sold here from 1976 to 1980. Engines available during those years were the 1400 cc , the 1600 cc, the 2000 cc, and the 2600. The most common engines are the 1600 and the 2000, mine has the 1600.

You've got a few more brothers here. Fire Arrow and BlownArrow both own Celestes. You can find them in the Mitsubishi Garage.

The bumpers and lights are the standard ones used on Celestes in the US for that year. Wheels and mirrors aren't original to my car, they came from a Fire Arrow.

I've got more pictures in this thread:

Cheers,

-Joe

Celeste On The Road Again

Sept 29, 2010

Hi Y’All

Oh…it’s been a looooooong time……

Yes…the first time of my Celeste on this JNC’s page was March 2009…it’s
been more than a year now !

Hey…what’s happened between then and now ?…..

• Celeste..took plenty of rest…reason is that there are a couple
of BLACK cars came into my life * ( See 'em at the end of this report )

• Well … as we all know the more the old cars rest…things could
get worst…; one starter motor … one automatic gear box…one head job…
the whitewall attachments are now ….gone

• One stereo set …and as of 4 days ago..one alternator @ 90
amp came to rescue…replacing an old and worn out 65 amp which may
have left about half of the generating power output...

…..yeah…the last change prompt me to take Celeste out for a spin !

Canned Heat…On The Road Again !

The Route…..

The trip was not really pre-planned … I just went where the steering
wheel and music took me…. from outskirt area where I live ..all the
way to the old town Bangkok.

Luckily…this was Sunday morning …and most folks may still cuddly in
their beds……so streets were kinda open…..

Bangkok traffic on weekday is always a repeat nightmare…seeing clear
traffic in front of ya...is a bless !

R-U-Ready ? ...

If Yes……Let’s Go …..

First stop is to get gasoline … My Celeste is badly in need of higher octane
and the highest available in Bangkok was Octane 95…which will soon fade
out …

No , the future of gas-supply is not very pleasant with the old car like Celeste …

I may have to cook my own octane booster for the Sirius 2000 cc.
engine...ha...ha....ha...............

Image

Image

The sun wasn’t here yet…lighting was a bit gloomy…..

The street adjacent was , surprise !, full of green…So I took time to
absorb the greenery view …..

I’m no expert in photography…but always look for good background…
hoping that the pics should come out interesting…..
