My local wrecker use to call itt eh terrorist van lol.

I prefer tocall it mega boxy hotness. Fun to drift support van.

Dunno if this counts as nostalgic or not, but they are rare as all hell

here ar a few pics of my old van. The front end was tweaked when I bought it, and every time you let go, the steering would fly left so I sold it intent on buying a better one. Starion wheels fit perfect on it :). My plans are to toss a set of starions wheels on and slam the heck out of it, then rig up a bumper than can tow a starion ro lancer :)

Luckily there has been one at the yard for the last 2 weeks, so i will be traping it of all possible usable parts tomorrow. Already grabbed allt eh useful electronics off it :).

Is there anything in the world that doesn't look better with Starion wheels?

That is one sexy van, btw :D

well, i picked her up today. Whopping 350 bucks lol. Its a bit high on the mileage 185k, but the engine still seems good.

Doesnt run, sat for a while wihtt eh window down so its wet on teh front carpet, but no mouse poop, and the interior isnt all moldy./ I will be doing the usual steam clean vaccuum deal to clean it up inside.

Doesnt run of course, but I almost have the problem pinpoi9nted.

The thing has no spark when you turn it over, but gives a few sparks once the ignitionr eturns ot the on position. Voltage on the coil and dizzy drops to about 9v.

I'm thinking it is either, mpi relay, ecu, or possibly the starter., although by looking at the diagram I dont think the starter relay affects the ignition.

Whatever it is, it has to be a simple fix. I plan on grabbing all teh relays, and the ecu from the jyard tomorrow. and just go to town replacing everything :) I didnt even know what year this van was until I just looked a few minutes ago. I guess it isnt so nostalgic, I have the 1990 one, thurd year of production here haha.

sometimes, I think I should just buy a bigger truck, but then I think i just need a dolley with trailer brakes... :)

Good find you got there, I remember my old van before it was t-boned by some crazy driver here in L.A.. Looks like you dont need anything fixed on it, does it have the rotating captains chair and the jumbo moonroofs?

no moonroofs. I've yet to see one here in the nw with moonroof. I've heard some came with 2 moonroofs? I see the fusebox has a spot for one.

Of course it has the pimp chairs :D I fell in love with the lastone I drove. They actually are quite fun to drive with starions wheels and low pro. The damn things dont really body roll at all lol. I pulled some nice wet road drifts with my last one.

I need ti find a drivers side blinker for this thing. lemme know if anyone knows of one at a local parts yard or what not :)

Shaun,

I never even knew that Mitsubishi made these vans. What engine is in it and what's the configuration, (FWD, RWD)? '87 the first year of production... how long did they make them for?

Really cool. I always liked the look of the Toyota vans... this one is the bomb! :tu:

They were made from 1987-1991.

They were all 4g64 sohc mpi wideblocks with automatic transmissions.

They were disignated the van/wagon here. In australia they would have been called a starwagon, and are basically a l300 model, possibly express. I'm not 100% on the japanese designation.

They are rwd

They have a front steer rack n pinion, torsion bars up front and leaf springs in the back. I believe they were developed off the montero frame but I cant be sure.

Wow. I thought all those were recalled and bought back by Mitsubushi.

I used to own the toyota but I llked this one coz its roomier and have more options like double moonroofs rotating captains chair and the front windows go allthe way down, in the Japan and Philippines they are called Delica Exceed. I really loved the 4WD version w/c came out w/ all the bells and wistle like brush guard, lift and mudguards. Maybe I can find a pix of it.

oops I made a mistake, it was 87-90.

As for recalls, there was never a recall to buy them back as there was never anything serious wrong with it.

I've heard rumors of a buyback on the nissan box van, but I've never found any recall information to substantiate it.

Picked up some new goodies today.

First my friend finished my 4g63 dohc manifold so I will be doing a twin cam conversion to the van. I also picked up some widebody starion wheels for it. I will be stripping them down and polishing them up here in the next few days. I just finished working on the lancer today so I should be able to move onto teh van tomorrow if the weather holds out.

If you ever get stuck for parts both the Starwagon (aussie version) and Delica (Japanese) versions are very common in Australia... Im guessing in New Zealand aswell.

Also your pics just made me think, quite a few american versions of Japanese cars seem to have HUGE plastic bumper bars :?

yeah normally I dont like usdm bumpers but I do like the bumpers on this van. The only thing I really need from australia is a 5 speed conversion for the 4g64 as we never received 5 speed vans. :)

Well, made some more progress on getting my parts together. I snagged a 93 eclipse 4g63 non turbo twin cam ecu and a nice looking exhaust manifold off a 95 hyundai g4cp 4g63 rip off engine. Nice welded setup, looks like she will flow nicely. I will get pics shortly
