Just picked up a nice 72' Colt today.

Here are a few pics

Overall, the car is in nice shape. Body is very straight, interior is pretty nice, dash looks very good, paint is shiny (has been repainted in the original color), and seems to run good. Brakes drag a bit but stop ok. As for plans, I'm not real clear on that yet. I am leaning towards the sleeper look, including the steelies (but widened), sprucing up the interior, and going turbo under the hood- maybe EVO power? I have plenty of time to figure it out. The main thing is it's nice and safe in my garage.

Nah, I have 2 mitsu's, 1 Mazda, 2 Honda's (soon to be 1), 1 Toy, and 4-count them- 4 DATSUNS! :D While I'm expanding the collection, the 1200 and 240Z are my favorites, so Datsunrides stays. :tu:

I love that Colt. Always wanted one of those...

The only ones I ever see around here are the '74+ big bumper models...

I've been trying to find one myself for a while. The ones I found up to this point have been WAY overpriced AND had rust issues. (or were 4 doors) I got this one for $1500 + some Chevy parts for trade. Big plus is the current tags. No back fees for me! I think it was a pretty good deal. :tu:

No, but it does look a lot like that one, doesn't it. This one was on Craigslist in S. El Monte. I plan to do a lot of mods (easily reversable) under the skin. Mostly suspension and drivetrain while keeping the exterior stock appearing.

Nice ride there mate. We call them 16L 's over here. My old man had one that was about 3 years old back in the day. He never thought they'd be a classic!

Keep an eye on the craigslist's up in Oregon and Washington. They seem to pop up there from time to time. I'll let you know if I spot a 4 door.

they havent been popping up. There was one the guy kept trying to sell for too much. I think someone actually bought it this time. It was that faded red one without the grill?

I believe so. Last ad I saw was for $600? It looked kinda beat. I've learned to be patient over the years. The cars are out there, and at a reasonable price, especially from long time owners looking for someone to take care of "their" car. I got a few good deals on cars I probably could not have afforded otherwise, other than the owner giving me a good deal because they felt it was going to a good home. Heck, there was one local to me I looked at 3 or so years ago that I almost bought for over twice the price of this one , didn't run, had bad rust issues, and the interior was rough, just because they don't show up very often in any condition. The last one was about a year ago, also local, and while relatively clean and straight, had bad rust issues around the front and rear glass (probably had a vinyl top), motor was running on 3 and had lots of back registration due. At the time, the tow yard would not take my $1800 offer. They were asking for $2500 and said they would not let it go for under $2200. "I can get $2500 all day long on eBay for this car", I was told. I said you'd be lucky to get $1500 for it. I don't normally argue pricing with owners, if they don't like my offer, so be it, but this guy was annoying me bad! Eventually sold on eBay for....$1500 after being listed 2 times before probably with a $2500 reserve. I really wanted to call the guy and have a good laugh. So the guy probably cleared $1100 after all the fees were paid. Should have taken the $1800 offer. But then I wouldn't have seen this so maybe I should call him and thank him? :P

Usually the first thing I do when I bring a new ride home is start figuring out what I need to fix or replace. This list so far is very short! Kinda nice for a change.

What's under the hood, the 1.3, the 1.5, or the 1.6?
