hmm, looking at the green coupe's bumpers more closely, i realized they are different as well

some sort of interim design between what japan and the rest of the world got and the big, 5mph, dot mandated bumpers of '75

That's a very very nice example of a GTO bud.

I'm also very keen on getting my hands on a GTO, I'm scouring trademe regularly as I have a friend in Christchurch who can store and ship the car over to UK for me. If you see one for sale, feel free to let me know :)

And congratulations on a very smart classic!

Chris

Couple more pics, This is the final ride height I decided on, as the G/box cross member is about three inches lower than the sills!! so cant go to low.

At the moment I'm finishing off the interior so I'll slap up a few pics of the finshed product.

And the KM119 five speed is going in this weekend (4spd is no good for hiway use) should be a straight swap...

Nice man, quite possibly the tidiest OS Mitsi left in NZ.

I went on a trip to Welly/Palmy recently and snapped this on the motorway, thought you may be interested to see;

Nice Kyteler, your quick with your camera!
I did a plate check on the car, and its chassis code is only eight digits away from mine, must of been on the same production line.

The last survivors aye!

I saw it a mile off, if I'm honest. Got my mate to speed up while I hung out the window to take a photo of it on high shutter speed ;)

Ok, well I'm switching to a 32/36 weber for the colt, I will be milling the original plate off it and making a new one, similiar to what this guy did... http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... 9&start=20

I hate updating with no pics, so heres a few shots of a car show we had at work last week.

Very very nice Galant Coupe there. I know of only one in existence on our country.

Would love to get my hands on a GTO too but so far only managed to get GSR2000 front grille and fender mirrors lol

Work begins on the GTO!

Ok so far Ive built a dolly, and stripped the GTO, as you can see there was a reason for all this as the rust has started to eat it from the inside out.

And the previous owners love of bog.:(

As you can see its had a repaint, original colour is on the left.
Image

Munch munch munch.
Image

Top chassis rail/ air duct opened to expose rust area.
Image

Sound deadening coming off.
Image

My home made Dolly, is rock solid, and only cost me $40 USD to make.

Artsy shots...

right two things ryan.....
you made it out of wood!!!!!!!!!! spose you can race the wood bore-a, see if you finish the car first or the bore-a will eat the wood first.
and secondly, this car was soooo nice to drive. hurry up and clear the garage out so you can start working on the poor thing! oh and i went to mitre10 and they have 140 migs for round low $600 mark. not to bad. copy off mine by the looks of it.

I was going to post some photos, but I don't have enough posts. One place to check for rust is under the sound deadening by the peddles.

That green colt looks like aU.S. model. It's the scheme I have on my 74 although mine is the "GT" model.

Ryan, i love your Galant Colt. One of the car shapes I grew up admiring.

Good luck on the GTO restoration. Keep the pictures coming.

Just my daily, a V6 Lantis.

Ive just about got the Purple colt back on the road with a Weber 32/36, sounds like an animal compared to its wezey old solex self.

Just got to link up the throtle cable as it backwards now, using a pully made from meccano!
