i stumbled upon this magazine earlier this year when i was in tokyo on my honeymoon..
unless you can read japanese these will be mostly 'picture books', though you can figure out most of the cars' specs..

here is the website:
http://www.geibunsha.co.jp/backnumber/bc_nh.html

of particular interest to me was their sister publication, 'HachimaruHero' ie 80s Nostalgic Car Hero (i have a soft spot for 80s japanese classics in particular):
http://www.geibunsha.co.jp/backnumber/b ... uhero.html

some fantastic stuff there. i have since ordered and received two other backissues through Amazon.jp, it took about two weeks to arrive to australia..
there are several other magazines in japan dedicated to classic cars, all look very nicely published with great photos..i'm sure many of you could find some nice stuff speciffic to your japanese nostalgic car in these magazines..

Mate if you're in Sydney, the Kinokuniya Bookstore in the Galeries Victoria on George St stocks them.

nice! we must've been separated at birth or something. I have the May 2006/volume 2 issue of Hachimaru Hero, the one with the white tekamen on the cover. Some nice stuff in there, but my Japanese reading skills are sub-par to say the least :(

do you have any J's Tipo (Neko Publishing) related magazines? in my small collection of car-related kitsch I have the R30 Skyline Bible and the '80s Car Perfect Book, both published by the same folks who produce J's Tipo. the R30 Skyline Bible itself is a must-have for any DR30 fan.

i'm slowly collecting more items off Yahoo Auctions Japan, it helps that my friend is a Lancer nutter and collects Evo magazines in bulk, so I usually piggyback off his orders and save on shipping.

oh and let's not mention my catalog collection

Orion, if you are after some J's Tipo magazines in Auckland, I know a guy who has some and may be listing them soon on Trademe. Issues 117, 121 144, 145 & 156, and a REV SPEED no. 183.
I just bought four magazines off him, Forever RX-7, The History of Rotary, and two magazines by Neko, How to start Japanese classics (no.20) and How to start european classics (no. 23). Very cool.

I haven't found anywhere to buy them in the US or Canada (including Japanese book stores). I got one when I was in Japan and then ordered a lot of 5 of them from Yahoo Japan Auctions for Y500. After fees and shipping they were ~$90! Great magazine though -- they are worth it for the used car lot and aftermarket ads. Nice photography too.

the Neko Publishing site isn't the best for backissues I've found.

I got Vol.5 and 6 from HLJ. Wasn't too expensive, even with shipping, plus they shipped them really fast. I'd highly recommend it.

Some Kinokuniyas in the USA stock them, at least the one in Seattle did.

szymonsta and anyone else interested - there's a copy of the R30 Skyline's Bible for sale on Yahoo Japan if you have access to a bidding service.

http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u28513083

has met reserve, current bid is 1000 yen with 3 days to go.

I just picked up issue No. 135 at the Kinokuniya in Seattle.

The cover and feature article: 2000GT.
Main article: "Feels. winds" which has a couple of roadsters: SP310, SR311, then 2 CSP311 Silvias, and finishes with a Daihatsu Campagno Spider and a Toyota Publica Detachabletop. The photos are outstanding as always.
Commecial Express: Daihatsu Midget still used as a shop truck complete with scraped up paint and dents in the bed.
Young Fogey: '73 Honda Life Super DX sedan.

One other article that should be of interest is about a guy named Steve Kopito in California who owns a Toyota Publica. It's in beautiful condition. I didn't even know there were an Publicas in the US. I don't think any were imported, were they? I can't imagine an 800cc sedan doing too well in the late '60s. I wonder if he'll be at JCCS?

The Kinokuniya book store here in San Francisco, CA (1581 Webster St., San Francisco, CA) also stocks Nostalgic Hero as well as Vintage Auto and an assortment of other automotive literature like Hyper Rev.

Picked up these two issues several days ago. Awesome photography...maybe I can get my little sister to translate it for me.

No, they weren't 'officially' imported (to the US). I've heard rumors they may have been imported to Canada... unconfirmed. Steve brought his over from Japan. I think we've tracked down fewer than 6 in the US. There was a Publica pick-up at Toyotafest this year.

Steve was at JCCS, and so was his Publica. There was also a Sports 800 in attendance. Sorry to say I didn't take any pictures.
