Hey all...as I mentioned on the intro page, I recently have returned to my resto project on my '74 TE27 SR5. she has sat in my garage for 4 years now with minimal work done. I started stripping the underside last year and have decided to focus completely on finishing that as well as all wheel wells, struts, linkages...etc. I will be looking for guidance from the forum knowledgeable ones being that this is my first time at something like this. due to a series of mishaps, I have no pics of the car as she looked when I rescued her from the ranch where she had been sitting at for the past 15 years. 88K miles, engine sounds good, have driven around the local streets and it runs good with a bit of a shimmy problem due to a dented drive shaft. I would love to post some pics directly here but get the following message...Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.....any suggestions to get around this? till than recent pic on the link.

Deep into the seat rebuild. pulled passenger seat back springs off and will transfer to driver side which has 3 busted support springs. discovered broken weld at bottom of frame, will get rewelded.

Next phase, just pulled engine/tranny. going to clean/strip/prime and paint (or powdercoat) engine bay, put engine back in and take it to Ray at RaceToys in Diamond bar for a rebuild/upgrade. Looking at 3tc cranks, dual carbs and whatever else he wants to throw in. Still trying to get it done by its 40th birthday in June.

toyorotor: I just checked out your build at 3tc.....very nice, love the color, I am thinking of House of Kolors Oriental Blue. Very cool that you have a similar project a few paces ahead of mine, I may be contacting you from time to time for advice. I have not been able to locate rubber for 1/4 windows...any thoughts?

Quarter windows came from Cabe Toyota I think in Cali.... or maybe ebay... but you'll find them. I got the front n rear from ebay, But I don't like the way they sit. I don't know if they need to sit in the sun to flatten out, or they are just cheap aftermarket.....

After weeks and weeks of grinding and sanding I have just completed the undercoating. Fairly happy with the way it came out. This is the KBS system and sprayed on with a 1.4 harbor freight gun. I did not order the thinner for this Rustseal and it sprayed thick....did not come out of the gun smooth and left a light texture to the finish which I actually like. First time using a HVLP gun and the laying on back spraying straight up was the challenge. Next weekend it is the painting of the engine compartment so I can get the engine back in.

last weekend I painted the engine and trunk with the exterior PPG blue paint and had a couple mishaps...changed the game plan, doesn't make much sense to paint engine bays with paint. I went with the same KBS coating I used on the underside.....dries like ceramic, does not chip or scratch, much more fit for the engine and trunk.

beginning the process of reassembly. starting with rear end suspension. picked up a HF sandblaster and used for the first time on the T50 10 bolt rear end. wish I got this about 100 wire wheels ago....now I know. goal of completion by June is long gone, I am now slowing things down and trying to get everything right the first time.
