Hello everyone,
my name is George and I live in Slovenia. I always wanted to own some 70s jap car, but import for car companies began to be profitable only after disintegration of Yugoslavia, so only domestic or rare personal imports older than 23 years are to be found here. You can imagine my surprise when this old Corolla appeared on web auction. Guess who bought her
She looks better on photos, sadly the car was restored in a BIG hurry, lots of filler everywhere, paint is faded on some panels, painted while assembled, terrible-looking welds, exhaust is in its last days, but engine and gearbox are great. Little 3K starts and runs like new, interior is complete and almost mint :) , still smells like 70s  .

The plan is to restore the engine bay first, since I dont have money/space/time to do a complete restoration right now. I will try to take lots of photos during the process, so maybe someone will find this thread helpful. Also, I´m doing this for the first time so...

For me, trim and interior parts are more important than bodywork if you get the car at the right price. Everything else can be fixed, repaired and repainted over time.

Looks like you got a good one :tu:

Nice! Excellent car. Take good care of her, a car like that deserves a good home and a loving owner.

Thanks guys :D

I started to work on the project, for now just little bits. Still want to drive her until winter starts.
Dizzy seemed like a good place to start :P

It`s not a mirror polish obviously, old screws and semi-polished parts will give the engine bay nice old look I hope. Condenser is going to be grey.
A lot of work(fun) left.

Nice work on the valve cover. how long did it take to complete? I have always liked the polished look. The probelem is, If you polish one aluminum piece, you have have to polish them all. I also like that your car has the early 70's grill. I dont see very many nice ones like that. Keep at it!

Still got warm weather here so I took apart the voltage regulator.

It looked like the print was lost :?

When I started grinding, the top coat just fell off :) what a surprise lol

So I just removed the rust and painted it with a brush, then sanded and put on some clear coat.

Without flash looks good

Sorry for late reply, I didn't had time to work on Rolla at all :( , my other car, Honda CRX needed suspension and underbody rebuild so sorry :?

Here is a pic of my princess:

I did at least found this:

The seats were covered by some good custom covers, so leather (or whatever it is :P ) is still in good condition :tu:

Yes they are. My TE27 has the same emblem in the headrests.

There's a guy in NZ who makes fantastic repro seats skins. He has even gone to the extent of creating dies to emboss the emblems into the headrests. Highly recommended
