Good lookin! I quoted since it's the last on the page, easier for everyone to see this sexy beast this way!

I'm hoping some of my projects come around so I can pick up a 30/31 by spring/summer next year.

Found these kicking about on one of my memory cards... part of a whole bunch of photos I took at a car show back at the beginning of 2012 but never got around to publishing.

Not long after this event I parked the car up in the shed, and it hasn't moved since then (except up and down the driveway).

Reviving a dead thread.

I just paid to have a 1986 Skyline GTS-X imported from Japan to VA, and I am very excited! But I have some questions too. I see that some R31's have a "hotplate" style taillamp, and others have an "afterburner" style taillamp. Were these both OEM? Which years were each one available?

I have also seen different styles of grilles, and headlamps. Mine has the projector style headlamps, and the open mouthed grille, but I have seen other coupes with a mesh grille and standard sealed beam headlights. What determined which one you'd have on which particular car?

Anyways, here are some photos they sent me!

It's been worked on by R31 HOUSE!!

Yours is a later model HR31, probably '87/'88?

Both taillights are OEM, the afterburners were on the early Coupes and Passage GT, the hotplates on the later models. Same with the headlights, from my knowledge the later models had the projector style lights. The mesh grille was only on the Passage GT / 4dr hardtop models, the Coupes all had the smaller grille.

So there was a model update for the 87 model year? The company that I bought the car from told me it was an 86. Would we be able to tell for sure from the VIN?

Also, is there a good forum I can sign up for that concentrates on this specific model? The only ones I have seen are R31SkylineClub which is AUS based, and doesn't have much JDM spec info, and then SkylineOwnersUSA which is useless for anything before the R32.

I'm not sure exactly when that update happened, could've been late '86..

R31skylineclub Aus is the best R31 specific forum that I've found and there's many many guys with HR31 coupes on that forum, so there is good information about.

Info like this is exactly what I want to know and haven't been able to find from R31SkylineClub.

Oh well, I'll dig a little more over there and see what I can find.

Do you have an R30 or 31?

Actually there's 3 pics of mine higher up on this page - the beige one. The other public forum where there's some info on also won't help much. My main build thread is on a private forum.
