Hey Nick,

Well I just had to check out your TE51 after you commented on my new TE61. Brothers indeed... :D

As others have already mentioned, you certainly have your work cut out for you here! But good job saving this great little coupe. You seem to be working your way through the issues...
What are your plans for it? Use as is or eventually restore?
Love the look of those original 4-spoke steelies! Very retro. 8) Wish I had a set like that for my TE61...
Oh, and brilliant sunset pic!! :tu:

Btw. isn't Mesa in the outskirts of Phoenix? I only ask because I spent about 4 months in Deer Valley some 12 years ago...

sorry i never replied. my original plan was to just use it as a beater, maybe lower it. like everyone knows, plans change. i need to switch gears and get my other project done (88 Conquest). after that, i plan to engine swap this and turn it into a little drift machine! restoring just isn't my style. and yes, deer valley is on the northern outskirts of Phoenix. i'm on the very eastern outskirts. were you here for work?

She'll be a cool little drifter won't she! Something different...

Yeah, I was in Deer Valley for work / training.
Was a bit dead up there, but we'd often go down to Scottsdale instead which was nice.

So did you just use blocks to lower it?

Lovin' the pics!! 8)

- but you have really got to loose that tow hook ASAP!! Doesn't do much for the otherwise sporty lines of your TE51...

thank you. I agree with you on the tow hooks effect on the body lines. it was on it when I bought the car, and I just never took it off. I like to think of it as "character" or a glimpse into the car's past life. if it means anything, I do put it to use! I towed my buddies Starion after it broke down the other day haha

for all of my loyal viewers, I will have major updates very soon 8)

(I think I need mudflaps :D )

Nice coupe man, love the body style. I'm also out of Phoenix. Good luck with your project.

Is yours the same body style? I have the same car, but green. I live south of Mesa, near Eloy. :)

well, my big update will have to wait just a little bit, as I ran into some problems. I was out of town picking up parts when my u-joint snapped 140 miles from home. i was stranded. guess the old girl wasn't happy with the new heart I just picked up for her... ended up renting a u haul and towing it home. i have my small parts collection for sale, trying to get her back on the road. will update.

my ego, it hurts

That's some pretty tough luck... :(
Fingers crossed you get her up and running again real soon!

I'd love to help you on the way by taking those 4-spoke steelies of your hands, but sadly I'm guessing the shipping to Hong Kong would be out of this world.

Aww that sucks. Driveline repairs aren't too bad though. I blame the tow hook!

sorry for the lack of updates, been keeping a low profile recently. nothing major done yet, just little things. new brakes, drilled and slotted rotors, new brake master, new clutch master and slave, new shock (lol), new ngk plugs and wires.

I registered for Toyotafest, so I'm really just prepping for the 900+ mile roadtrip

also, just picked these up locally, wrapped in Pirellis :)
