Musta lost my previous topic, but anyhow, I picked up a way overpriced 1987 mirage turbo awhile back. It was a original turbo car swapped iwith a 4g63, and the work was so bad, I decided to pull the entire engine and trans along with the wiring harness.

This is is basically a rebuild thread of the 63 swap cleaned up and done proper without melted wires and oil and spheghetti wiring everywhere.

PIcked the car up for waaaaaay too much, but I really wanted a second gen 87 mirage turb body, so I bought it.

Had a galant vr4 swapped engine, with a chinese 20g, a safc, and some chipped ecu. Everything in the engine bay is coatedwith oil, the car ran like complete shit, throwing codes etc... It has more silicone couplings on the intercooler piping than the govt has conspiracy theories....

Nice lot of random wiring and misc melted wires... typical hack job these days I guess.

After troubleshooting the mess a bit, decided th engine needed t bepuld, and baialy rebuilt, along with a complete rewire with a new wiring harness, and real mitsubishi parts.

First step was to pick up a real mhi evo 3 16g. It should be perfect for a 1800lbs fwd car.

Second step, pull the engine and trans, which is where I currently am.

a bit of progress today, but still no engine out. I forgot to drain some of my oil catch pans, so to avoid a mess, I will go buy new ones tomorrow.

I did find a cool discovery.. Drivers side spring was literally broken. Cut and broken lol.

Aldo I will give a shout out to hf for their 72 bin bolt rack. fucking thing is amazing for working on cars. Everyone should have one.

Love it, certainly on the someday bucket list of cars. Got to love those turbo script seats! Looking forward to seeing this one finished up.

Engine is out, engine bay has it's first wave of cleaning, and now I am concentrating on the engine. I will probably fully tear apart and hot tank the block, paint, and reassemble. Lots of ghettoness. missing intake bolts stripped exhaust manifold bolts, all not original bolts. I cant take it. No 13,, headed bolts will be on this car lol.

Be careful when re-tapping some of those exhaust manifold bolt holes, doesn't take much to find a oil galley lol.

I'm a huge Mirage fan, and saw this on 4g61t.org for sale awhile back. Looks like you are breathing new life into. Going to follow this thread.

still have 3 starions. 2 88s and an 83. Probably gonna sell all but the silver 88, but who knows. Hate getting rid of cars these days, hard to get money out of them and then when you try to buy another people think they are worth gold. I do have 2 forged g54bs im slowliy putting together right now, but owning so many cars, I have been having a hard time juggling projects.

The 87 mirage is slowly moving forward. I pulled the entire engine apart, and sent it out for hot tanking, I got it back earlier last week, but the crazy snow storm has left me not getting around to it. I cant paint the 3 blocks I have sitting in my garage right now lol. Too damn cold.

I apparently spun a balance shaft bearing in m 86 mighty max awhile back, so I sent that off to the machine shop for .020 and a rebuild as wekk.

Right now I cuyrrently am working on the following slowly
04 ford ranger 40 sohc engine rebuild
86 mm g54b rebuild and electric fp conversion
87 mirage turbo engine rebuilding back to mostly stock with a evo 3 16g
rotax 470 conversion to a gator 6x4 lol
slapping together a ,040 wiseco g54b short block

I also have to tear apart the g54b in my montero turbo. I have been fighting rod knock with the engine I put in it, and will either have to resize the crank or rods. I'm not quite sure yet. Leaving that oine on the back burner for now though

Then I am also dealing with my 84 lancer turbo which I need to redo the timing on and clean everything.

Last but not least, I also have a stock rebuild of a g43b for my 78 lancer. I am going back to a g32b on it, as I liked the car a whole hell of a lot better with light little 1.6l

and for the last reply, go offer them 500 bucks. They are a really cool unique car. I wish mine still had the 4g32t in it.

Dude, loving this build so far. Your interior is CRISP, and I love those seats. They're ridiculous. I'm looking at picking up an 85 Turbo possibly, and would definitely have to track those seats down. Haha

Exactly that one, actually. I made the guy an offer, and he said he would think about it, so I'm going from there. Engine is clean, and the body is great. He's made a bit of a mess with the fuel pump situation in the car, and the interior is full of "home remedies" for things, but nothing that can't be fixed.
