Just curious if anyone has come across any car covers for the hako coupes other than the one offered by Victory50? From the pictures, it doesn't seem very well fitted for a $500 two layer cover.

I know there are a few companies that make custom ones in the states but have no idea where to look in the Japanese market.

Thanks for any help. :tu:

I bought a car cover from calcarcover.com when I figured out that the BMW 2002 was almost exactly the same dimensions as a Hako

I was pleased to confirm that it fits very nicely indeed.

Hi Peter,

Umm actually no, lol... not on hand.

I actually just sent the car cover back to have fender mirror pockets sewn in now that I've confirmed the size was spot on.

I could have asked for an additional pocket sewn in for the rear spoiler but chose not to.

I'll take pics when I get it back.

Thanks a bunch Eric. That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. It's great that they can sew the pockets in for the fender mirrors. I was about to sneak out and measure one of the taxis here with the fender mirrors (probably closer in dimensions to a hako sedan tho).

I'll have to see what cover brands are available here for the BMW 2002 shape.

Oh you have a sedan?
I didn't realize that...

I believe the sedan is like 3" (75mm) longer than the coupe

Look at the dimensions, the Hako coupe is already longer than the 2002 but it provided me with a nice "fitted" look.
Trying to get the 2002 cover onto the Hako sedan might be too hard though...

You might need to look online for different classic cars that might be a better fit...

Sorry for the confusion. Its a coupe. I should be picking it up this week and I'll be sure to get some pictures up.

I was just thinking of the Taxis because that was the first modern car with fender mirrors that came to mind.

Eric, thanks for posting! Do you have a contact you spoke to? Maybe we can setup a hako group buy?

I just asked a friend to do a search for me here in Japan (since I don't know the proper terminology yet :( ) and he came up with two more companies in Japan that sell covers for Hakos.

http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~pro-ff/page009.html
and
http://www.wrappers.co.jp/

The first one doesn't have any pictures of the fit. Surprise surprise.

The second on makes custom covers on request and has an option for a Goretex outer layer! Really cool but I'm not about to drop $1100+ on a car cover.

Hi G

No contact at CalCarCover.com - i just bought it online through their website, even though they are maybe just 20miles away from me... For the mirror pockets I put the cover on the car, marked the cover with small X's in permanent marker where the mirrors attach to the fender, and for good measure sent along printed side view / top view pictures of the mirrors with basic length / width / height dimensions.

I picked the Superweave material because its super thin and therefore easy to clean in your home washing mashine. The thicker ones you need to haul down to the Laundromat and use the industrial size washing machines cause they get really bulky when they are rolled up.

Superweave is equally at home indoors and outdoors too fyi

I just ordered this, but since the car is stored indoors I opted for the "dust cover" version rather then the exterior covers. I'll report my thoughts after it arrives. Thanks again Eric for posting this.
