I just grabbed this one off Ebay. Should be arriving by this weekend. Thought I'd reach out to everyone for suggestions. I'm usually a Toyota guy, but have love for all classic Japanese cars. Normally I'd swap out the exhaust, throw on a weber, drop it down a few inches, and put on a new set of JDM wheels. But as complete as this one is I'm thinking of keeping it as original as possible. Got some rust and a new paint job to take care of, and a auto trans to swap out for sure. But I'd like to hear feed back and ideas on color, performance mods, and anything else I could possible do to it while keeping the car "original". Any input would be much appreciated!

Nice car.
I bet that 1.6 is a pooch. Maybe consider upgrading to a 2.0? Not 4g63, even though that looks easy enough, but a g52b.
Maybe get a motor and trans at the same time when you go manual.

That's not a bad idea, but I'm usually against engine swaps. As long as I can keep it period correct I guess it wouldn't matter. I know the biggest problem with these cars were american emission standards, but in the great state of Florida we have none. So ripping out a few things should give the 1.6 a bit more HP.

A 4g52 is period correct, the arrows had that and the 2.6l 4g54 options too. Finding a narrowblock 5spd might be hard to find though, they are becoming that way out here at least and cars don't really rust away here. Even a 4spd would work if you found one. At least with the Colt Galants, there is a difference in driveshaft lengths between autos and manuals (autos being shorter).

There really isn't much emission related on your car other than the egr valve lol. No idea what that extra tube is that is running down by the exhaust up to the intake other than maybe the "thermal reactor" which is emission stuff.

After seeing it in person I've decided it's just too complete to change anything. Has some rust issues but nothing serious. I'm keeping it the original yellow and the auto trans. Should be finished in a few months. I'll update with progress pics.

I agree, it's so frickin clean, why not leave it alone and enjoy it until you absolutely need to do something to it

I ended up selling the Arrow to my mom. She came to visit and fell in love with it. Found out she use to cruise in a Datsun 510 back in the day. Cool getting her back in a JNC. Rebuilding the engine now, then off to the paint shop.

That's awesome, you should post a pic of her next to her new ride!
