dont quote me, but i dont think theres much of a difference. hopefully someone knows. im swapping the W50 out of my MKI Supra with a supposed MKII W58, someone told me that MKI W50, MKII W58 and MKIII W58 are basically the same and interchange besides possibly having to change shifters and driveshafts

difference is going to be in the shifter position. if you bolt it up and the shifter doesn't line up with your hole (can't be 100% on how an a60 w58 goes in an x7), you can just buy the shifter stuff from an a70 w58.

any way you cut it, you're going to be playing with how it sits to make it work + - an inch or so.

The MkII w5x shifter position is about 2in farther forward than the MKIII.

also think about shifter position, do you WANT to reach that far forward when shifting and possibly bash your knuckles on the console?

i've had complete shifter assemblies from jyards for $15, sold some for $75 so there's your price range.

If you are going to use the MKII and cut the sheetmetal a bit, then use the early truck shifter stick. It has a quick dogleg, quite low on the shaft, and will move the shifter back into a more pleasant area.
