Has anybody had any luck using a universal fuel sending unit on a vintage Toyota? The one on my MS-45 gave up the ghost. It looks like I could replace the electrical part and re-use the mechanicals.

I used one ages ago in my 510, I think it was from JC Whitney, pretty sure it came with a gauge too, worked fine for me, good luck.

I was just looking at this one:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/rci-fuel-sending-unit-minor-modifications-required/p3067635.jcwx?filterid=c2072d2174y1967g2u0j1

Its cheap enough. I'm going to order it and see what it looks like.

I used an AE86 one from Toyota to replace the rusted one on my TA63.

Some arm modification required, but nearly plug and play.

The JCW part is on the way. I'll post some pics and info once it arrives.

If it is electrical, I got one for the RA29 from Rockauto.com for cheap. Fit right in and has worked great ever since!

Oh, just looked at the link. You meant fuel level sending unit. nevermind
