Yes, its not something strange. it's the second mazda passenger car manufactured by KIA, that's why sometimes is called Brisa-II. Brisa I was a clone of the mazda 1000/1200/1300, and was produced with 1,0 and 1,3 engines. there are some photos of the 818/808/grand familia clone in the site which presents photos of cars from movies, there might be some photos in Ausrotary. As far as I know there is no export evidence. On the contrary Brisa I seems to have a relative success story in Central and South America (not to Mexico). Do you have the complete brochure? I am interested to see clearly the tail lights of this very edition.
edit:
I just opened the PDF, nice, never heard of the SW edition.

Interesting, are there any clones of RX2/616/capella or any of the other 70's RXs that any of you are aware of?

Kia also built the Mazda T600 three wheeled truck during the 1970s.

I always thought that kia was a relative new car manufacturer and that the kia pride was their only clone..

Got a picture of kia's mazda 1300 clone aswell.

I do not have a deep knowledge, but I dont recall of any other clones besides KIA. Of course there were the Kia pick ups, clones of the 1000/1200/(1300) pick ups, supposingly called B-1000 and B-1300 but for sure called and badged KIAMASTER. Forgot to mention that KIA Brisas for export were badged as KIA SS. Later on came the Bongo clone (E-1300/E-1600 for mazda export markets) after the E-something (2,5?, 3,0?). As far as I know, there were no passenger cars assemblied in other countries in 60s-70s-easrly 80s with any worth mentioning or obvious differences. RX-2s in South Africa were basically identical (maybe post-japanese production 121s were a bit different), Portugese 818s also, the same goes for Greek RWD 323s (hmmm they were more rusty). In light trucks, yes there were minor changes/modifications in many CKD cars.
There are strong indicastions that some greek assemblied B-1600s were badged and exported as GREZDA, if this makes them a "clone".
