Hi, toyota fans.

Im thinking about getting my corona out of long term storage and actually using it.. got to thinking
about doing a five speed conversion to make it better for highway driving.

has anyone here done a 5 speed conversion at all.....?

It has the 4R twin carby engine which is the same bolt patern as the 2R engine.

Any advice appreciated.
Cheers, Drew.

As far as I know all the R series engines have the same four bolt bell housing pattern...

hey mate,
On the RT40 engines 2R and 4R the bell housing is on the engine which limits the gearboxes to what they came with standard.
You can always do an 18R or 18RG conversion, they a pretty straight forward.

cheers Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the input, The vehicle in question is a 67 model RT40 1600's, very clean & totally original
so it would be better to keep it that way. The five speed conversion would be to make it more happy when cruising on the freeway & as much as i would like a nice late model twincam turbo to kick it along nicely i cant see myself doing it.

Thanks for the input & i have been watching the progress of the rat rona... looks good.

Cheers mate, Andrew.
