I will be doing some drift days, autocross, and a couple fun road race days if we can get a big enough local group

you're going to have plenty of fun with the stock na 2J mated to a manual transmission. take all the time you need to research and put together a good turbo setup while you drive it too.

Even the 5m with a 5 speed will be fun. I plan on doing a few things to the 2j like a clutch and light weight flywheel along with an intake and exhaust so it will be a blast

if you're going turbo don't waste your money on intake stuff. you'll just be spending it again later and there's no aftermarket intake that will net you genuine gains that will be worth the money. don't do a header either unless you plan to stay NA. exhaust, might as well get what you want for the turbo up to the dp area and make it easy on yourself later if you can. have a shop make you a 3" pipe from there to the back and plan on your dp being fabbed to meet up with it.

The intake and exhaust are going road be required to get everything to fit. I am not gonna do a header unless I find a really good one for dirt cheap. As far as the exhaust goes I will do anything so its not to hard to hook up after I go turbo

When I did my 5 speed swap, my mpg went from 20 to 25, with a 240k mile 5M. If I had gone to 3.90 rear gears instead of the 4.10 used in the automatic, it probably would have been a lil better.

Nice, the auto does feel like it sucks a ton of power so the gas mileage bump is not unexpected. After running some numbers through the tire calculator the closest I can come is 225/50/15 so I am going to throw a 10.5 set steelies on the car and rivet on some flares to make all of it fit :)

Ordered some parts today, including my wheels, tires and front lip. Gotta wait for some more money to come in so I can order all my suspension stuff

My new wheels showed up today!!!! Did a quick test fit to see how much fender work I am going to need to do....and the answer is a metric ass ton but it looks like I may be able to get away with not buying fender flares. The wheels do look awesome and with some metal work the car should look a lot better. Now on to the pics

My tires will be here tomorrow and should be mounted up sometime Monday so once that happens I will throw the wheels and tires on the car and see where things sit again because I am headed to the shop Saturday to start working on my fenders.

Fender flares as they will be easier to do and then I can just cut the crap out of the metal underneath. All 4 will be 2.5" wide so they should just cover the wheels and tires

Tires made it in today, and should be mounted up by the end of the today. Here is a quick shot of the size difference between a pair of 15x10" wheels and a pair of 205/60/15 Falken 512's

More work was done today, got my Datsun front bumper on, found some different flares for the car so if anyone wants some 2.5" ZG Flares hit me up.

Please dont mind the hacked up look of the flares as they are being built for a different rig. I will be changing a few things on the way that they sit but overall that is about how they will look.I will need a small spacer in the rear. let me know what you guys think

they look like a6 celica gts or mkii supra flares. am i off by much? regardless, haven't seen that kind of flare on an x6 but because of how boxy the body is it might work.

you went with the plastic hardbody bumper? why not chrome? how'd it bolt up?

The bumper is a metal one off a ~1984 Datsun/Nissian, skipped the chrome as I am going to be getting rid of all the chrome on the car when I paint it and this just makes for less work when I do that. It took very little work to make it fit. We pulled the old parking bench off and cut a couple holes in the stock metal front bumper which could have been avoided by cutting 4 tabs off the new bumper and then we just tack welded the new bumper in 4 spots and hit it with a little flat black paint. You are way off on the flares, they are from a Jeep but they have been cut up a good bit. I am headed to the junkyard here in the next couple days to pick up my own set so I can get to work on making them just how I want them.

haha! that's a first for sure. datsun bumper, jeep xj flares, you need a bmw lip spoiler and a volvo or vw air dam to complete the look.

HAHAHA, my VW lip will be here tomorrow, no joke. I just need to find a spoiler for the back and the body will be pretty much sorted other than shaving a bunch of stuff.

wangan style ae86 spoilers have been used on x chassis. they look not bad if that's the look you're going for. basically any 80's box style car that has a spoiler could work.

My new front lip came in today so that will be going on this weekend. Still working on a few ideas for the rear spoiler, and I need to get out to the junk yard in the next few days to pick up my flares, then its time to start cutting them up. Trying to decide if I want to fiberglass them or go some other route...
