if there's enough interest and someone has an original to use, i know where repros can be made.

i'm really interested in having more reproductions made due to the rarity and cost of the originals. these seats fit my miata project perfectly in terms of design and dimensions, and i don't really want to put an original TRD seat in the car when someone with a period toyota can put it to better use.

if anyone is interested in loaning a seat to have a mold created, please contact me. i have a friend who does good fiberglass work. he doesn't work fast but the quality is definitely worth it. i recently sent him my JDM x81 Mark II hardtop roof spoiler to copy and it came back to me in perfect condition.

if you're unwilling to "loan" a seat for reproduction purposes but you're willing to sell outright like kitsune, i'd be willing to invest some money with other parties interested in having a reproduction made to buy the original, as long as the other investors could agree on selling the seat for a 100% roi or one person is willing to buy out the others should they intend to keep it.

Do you plan to reproduce the inserts?

not immediately. that's something i'll have to figure out after i have the shell in-hand. and if there are other options for laying up the shells i'd be glad to check into them as well.

I was going to mention Elvin.

Great deal for both.

If you're going to make repo's I suggest collect a non-refundable deposit to start.

well i showed pics of the seats (not elvins, just googled) to my friend who does fiberglass work. he said he could definitely handle making reproductions and seemed pretty enthusiastic.

he's based in california, so i told him about the set elvin is selling. i just dropped a lot of cash on my turbo setup for the x8, but if there are other interested parties that might be willing to front some cash for the originals and make their money back after they're molded get with me.

After looking at mine, mines are not like what was pictured. I thought I had it figuring I have lots of parts in storage that I forget that I have. Pack rat

Ask your friend how much would it cost and what the deposit is.

I am willing to front the cash for the originals from Elvin only as long as I get my money back on the purchase of the seat.

dunno how much work would be involved in making the mold adaptable to say TRD/TOSCO or just blank... something to ask.

i'd throw down on one seat but i doubt elvin would separate at that price, so if someone covered the second seat then we'd be in business. i'd probably end up flipping the original for cash towards a set of the repros if they get made.

He wants $800 for both seats. One seat looks like there is damage so probably better to use the damage seat.

yeah i just spoke to him actually. if nobody wants to go in halfsies and take one seat, then i will save to get them both and they will be back up fs in the cali area when they're molded. if someone wants both i'd send them money for one as insurance while it was being copied, then they'd get the seat back when it was done.

but i trusted the guy doing the glass work with some of my rare toyota parts and they came back to me, including shipping both ways, in perfect condition. if there was the possibility of them being broken during the process i'm sure he'd know before starting.
