Welcome to my 1971 Toyota Crown Deluxe (MS65) a.k.a ''The White-Whale Project'' build page.

***NOTICE: I'm french so sorry for the mistake!***

Year: 1971
Model: Crown DELUXE
Chassis code: MS65
Engine: 4M (2600cc)
Trans.: W50 5spd swapped (originaly came with a Toyoglide, got it with the car)
Ext.Color: OE color was gold but last owner painted it white.

Int. color: Black
Mods: Stock for now...

*Long-short story*
I was lookin for a nostalgic japanese car has a project for 8 years now since I was lookin for something ''different'' then 240z,corolla and 510... and I really cant afford my dream right now

, an Hakozuka! Nothing really caught my eyes since last fall, I found this cute kujira for sale at about 15min from my house. But I was unable to buy it since my Mx-5 timming belt cost me more then I expected to repair... I was so mad, but had to forget it. Time passed, summer come, and I restarted my research for the ''holygrail''... Found a couple of Cressida,Supra,FB Rx-7 but they where all overpriced or simply, NOT FOR SALE! :lol:

One day, I was on my delivery run for my job and took a shortcut for my last customer. And then, parked between 2 huge RV's...BAM!!! The white KUJIRA was there with a ''For sale'' in the windshield! A kid was there lookin a it,taking pics and he told me he'll come back the next day to buy it. I told myself: ist now or never man... I ran to the closest bank and got the full money in hand to buy it right now!

This how she was sitting when I found her.

the exterior seem flawless but I found some patch of fiberglass and riveted sheet metal when inspected it more closely. But the job was quite well done...

the interior is realy clean... except the floor mat under the driver foot and the cracked dash pad :roll:

. Notice the stick... W50 5spd transmission from a Celica.

I test fited a set of 15x10 -38 with 175-65-15 tire on 4 corner.... just to add a little more crazynest to the test, I taped a set of CJ5 Jeep flares. :lol:

the rear would work with a agressive roll/pull fender work...(sorry i cant find the pic without the flare

but the front cant run 10'' without flare... :cry:

if my calcul a right, I will go with 15x9 +0 in the front and 15x10 +0 or -15 in the back.
I REALY like the look of the overfender, but I would hate myself to cut the fender and quarter panel. :cry:

...but if I could find a set of spare fender and quarter panel, CUT and DRILL some flare and go with 10'' in front and 12'' in back!!! :twisted:

yes. kujira's are beautiful. generally there's some rust to be found under the rear arches anyway, so you could cut them for flares and bigger wheels and call it "rust repair."

where are you located?

I'm in Canada...

I inspected the quarter from the inside of the trunk, guess what I found... BONDO and riveted sheetmetal on both side!!! but the front fender seem to have a little bondo on the arch to...

Since the car is stored for winter, thats gives me 4-5 months to tink about going Wild or going Mild! :roll:

Oh, I found this in my backyard layin under a pile of old radiator!

Looks super awesome! Where in Canada are you. I'm in Windsor ont and I'm just starting on my 71 crown that I'm swapping in a 1uzfe currently. If your nearby I'd love to check yours out.

These are really cool cars, and yours looks very clean. I'm excited to see what direction you go with it...can't say I've seen a boso-style kujira before.

thanks, yeah the car is clean, but not perfect... and Iriks from SparkleGarage had one JDM , but I'm not sure if he still have it.
