Very nice car. Could you give me some tips where I could get frt and rear windshield rubber gaskets? I saw some on the net but it's for the 4 door RT62 mk2. Sharing my car as well, glad to meet a fellow RT72 owner. This car is very rare nowadays.

I know this is an old topic but shoot, that car is beautiful.

I just saw a '70 corona coupe in my hometown (Eugene, OR). I was way stoked. I've been trying to hunt that car down to make an offer, lol.

Does anyone perhaps know how many of these cars were built and or imported? Seem to be extremely rare. In fact your red example is the second I've seen outside of the Toyota ads.

So I have been quite busy with the daughter and motorcycle projects along with the high work load at work but started to get some progress on the MK2.

It dont look like much but I got to rebuild an AE86 LSD with a Wier performance kit and also set up a 3.7 Diff. Rebuild all the rear brakes and cleaned up the AL drums. Installed the rear sway bar and also an NOS rear brake hose. The kicker is the NOS set of KONI rear shocks. They are the correct part number for this car. Wherever I can, I use NOS stuff regardless of how rare they are.


This car will be a daily driver and also able to cruize to long distance locations with a breeze so I decided to set up some sound control... Went ahead and added some sound deadning material on the floor


I also added some sound and heat insulation to the rear seat area. This should control some of the exhaust sound that may leak through the trunk.


What you dont see is the extra material that I added to the firewall. It was all a real BITCH to get installed but most of this is done for now.


Just because I can, I also added sound deadning material under the hood. This should keep the turbocharged 18RG in check with excess sound...


I also added sound deadning material on the trunk. This may seem like a lot of work but because this will be a daily driver for me, I want to be in a comfortable old car and not sound like a clunker... this is also part of what a MK2 is all about. One of the advertisments was about how quiet the engine was you cant even hear it...


All in all, its all good to get back in the garage and make some progress with this car. I have to set up the power windows and door locks along with the audio system so that will take some additional time... will update as things move forward!

One of these popped up nearby me and the guy wants almost $6000 for it. The engine is destroyed and its missing a mirror.

OK. Finally starting to get things moving forward. Most of the things I did were cleaning the years of crud and dust and crap on all kinds of things. However, I installed a heat / sound shield on the firewall to make the care more easy to drive everyday.

started out with a clean firewall


Then installed the sound insulator


Cleaned the ducting and installed new insulation where the originals turned into dust




Cleaned the harness for about 3 hours....


Then added the harness into the car and started adding the brake lines.


I also started to work under the dash. Added the steering column, de froster ducts and side vents, harness, brake pedal etc etc..


I also installed the windshield and completely disassembled the other wrecked car. Hopefully I wont drag my feet too much on this car anymore...

Hello all!

Just some updates using some downtime during this holiday season...

Nasty master cylinder and booster...


Sanded it down, re painted and installed a rebuilt master cylinder. Installed next to my NOS Denso voltage regulator.


Went ahead and rebuilt the inner fender guards and added rubberized undercoating in the inner fenders.



Installed the NOS Koito fender mirrors. Not fun drilling holes in fresh body work and paint but oh well...


Had the bumpers re chromed and installed. Playing around with the GSS emblems too... Also the NOS Toyopet emblem...



Other than this, there are plenty of small stuff going on like inner mirrors, power antenna installation and other crap.

I used several different types of insulation. Most stuff bought on each bay... People boys rubberized undercoating.
