I was thinking about a possible project to do. I would start with an N600. Take out the engine in the front, and get a CBR 600 motor. Then, remove the dead axle from the back, keeping the leaf springs though, and replace it with some sort of trike axle with a diff. (Same track) then mount the engine in the middle and run the chain to the diff. What are your thoughts? are there any big issues with the idea?

Hey Jim.. welcome!

Do it! What you describe is a bunch of work, but if you're asking questions like this, you know anything can be done 8)

The whole rear center floor section (back seat/trunk area) will cut out pretty cleanly and leave you plenty of room to work, but many challenges too.. fuel tank relocation (pretty easy), and devising a way to link the engine to the moving suspension (not so easy).. and about 3 dozen other details that will pop up- all of which will test you, and be so sweet once you've conquered them all..

get a clapped out N and show us how you repower it

I have a 2001 CBR 900RR motor set that would be perfect for this thing. I bought it with the intention of putting it into an MG Midget but then I picked up my Starlet and decided to go nuts on that.
