ra40 series GT coupe with boot lid, headling question

do you guys in the states with the ra40 series GT get a solid headlining made out of cardboard with vinyl over it or do you guys get a cloth with wired to your headlining
as im after a new rear GT windscreen rubber which has a peice that holds the cardboard head lining to the roof along the back of the rear screen
need to know if you guys can still buy these new

Mine (1979) has the cardboard with vinyl.

Might be able to source it new from Toyota. I know that quite a bit of the rubber gaskets for my 76 Celica are still available from Toyota.

If, by 'rear screen rubber', you mean the weather stripping that holds the rear window in, then, no. I have been looking for a while for it. If you go to the Classic-Celica website, there are a couple other people searching for one. Unfortunately, the 2nd gens are orphans in the JNC world. It may have been extremely popular in the US (when introduced) but I've heard it was a dud in Japan. And if it was a dud there, there will be no factory or aftermarket support for it, and there isn't...

However, I am always hopeful. If you find a supplier or someone who can, and is willing to, make replica parts, let me know!!! It seems Australia and the Phillipines are the best sources of obscure JNC parts.

can get std rear screen rubbers over here in oz ,but they dont make the gt ones at all .which was what i was after

Wait, what do you mean by 'GT' versus standard? Do you mean hatchback versus coupe? Also, if you are just looking for the trim piece that holds the headliner in, than you should be able to find someone who stocks something close to what you need in OZ. The trim in the 76 Celica is just a molded piece of plastic. I know that it is not available, but any cdecent trim shop should be able to find something to work for you. Can you get a pic of what you are talking about?

You can actually buy 2nd gen coupe rear window rubber, the rubber piece that goes around the glass and holds it onto the body?????

GT has the extra rubber peice moulded into the rear screen rubber at the top
LT and ST use a std rear rubber for the cloth head lining
and on the rear wind screen rubbers can get them new in australia for bootlid models only
