Hey I have one of those only it's a 90 in the same silver color!! I love mine but it is making some awe full noises right now,and the trans is leaking a bit. Got a new seal coming in today. Mine came from the Bay area as well, but is on the east coast now. What wheels do you have on that beast?

I love my too. The wheels are Axis Halo. 18x8.5 30 offset with 245/40/18 Nitto Neo Gen. Love the set up. Will worth the money.

Did someone swap the carb on there...??

In the US we only got the vans from 87-90, all 4g64 MPI auto with 4.22 rear end.

No the carb is original equipment there was a GLi version with the 2.4 4g64 and fuel injection but mostly the carbies were around until about 2004 when the 4g63 was injected and then in about 2006 the 4g64 2.4 was back again. Mitsubishi Australia has always imported the most basic version they could get their hands on, no R & D costs for them, a largely unchanged van now from what was released in 1987. My 1994 now has a power steering rack in from a mid 2000s model. Starwagons have not been around for a long time now and the last auto transmission was in about 2003. A trip across the Tasman to New Zealand sees a much different van imported there

Cool info!! In the US carbs stopped being used in new cars around late 80's early 90's, probably because of emissions. That doesn't stop the rednecks from converting fuel injected cars to carb'd all the time though LOL.

Would love to see pics of your van, maybe a thread already exists but I haven't looked. Someday soon I'll post up pics of mine.

Hey there! I'm in the bay area as well with my 88 van LS! I have only seen one other in the bay area but it was the panel van version...
Have you found a repair manual for the van? I have looked high and low but can only find manuals for the diesel versions in canada and australia!

Ebay, factory service manuals. Since yours in an 88, 87-90 will work, but things were slightly changed in 88+... not much though.
